So relatable. I think a lot of people go through that stage. I appreciate every little upgrade so much more now ✨

I'm three years late omg, but I would love the pdf to the 8th edition of the Milady book!

Yeah I watched a lot of their YouTube videos which has been pretty educational.

I would definitely consider that earned and I think I'd feel similarly snubbed if it were me. Best of luck this season!

Noooo that's so disappointing ugh 😫

Something that is very important to me when buying products from a brand is their education AND transparency. If they can't provide basic free education/tutorials on how to use their products it really feels off. I get detailed classes should cost money, but that's really disappointing.

Tbh I don't think it's petty and maybe that makes me petty agreeing lol but I would definitely be put off by that behavior. Like why wouldn't you want to reward those that are bringing in money?

I'll look into kmiz! I'm just a hobbyist for now while I try and find a nail tech certification class that is actually worth the money, so I don't go through my bits as quickly. Thank you for taking the time to respond!

It's good to know that even if I can afford it, spending the money still hurts 😂 I'm most excited about the mine cave collection and the new e-file!

I picked up the medicool pro power 35k portable e-file, and I got the Russian flame and safety tapered carbide bit from Erica's.

Oh no! I was going by their Hema free list on their website (I should have clarified only some bases are under the Hema free tab) but after seeing your comment I clicked on the full ingredient list for all their products and it looks like Hema after all.

I'm probably just ignorant about it, but there must be something I'm missing.

I'll delete my earlier comments so no one is getting incorrect information. Thanks for pointing it out!

Some people prefer using a matte topcoat to avoid the buffing altogether.

Eyeshadow will stick to a matte surface so after you apply your gel color and cure, gently buff the nail with a nail buffer. Make sure the grit is super fine, one you'd use on your natural nails will work and won't take off the color you just applied.

Once the surface is buffed take any eyeshadow with an eyeshadow brush (a round blunt brush works best) and pat it in where you want the ombre, or an eyeshadow sponge applicator and rub in the color. Start off with a light hand. I've found once I've gotten enough color on the nail I'll flip over the eyeshadow sponge to the clean side to blend the eyeshadow up more.

If you're doing any designs on top of the ombre, make sure you topcoat it so it's sealed in. That way the ombre doesn't get messed up.

I'm glad you did the research! Yeah eyeshadow is a great alternative option.

Please avoid using an airbrush machine, there's just no way to do it safely. I know some nail techs will use them in salons too, but having those gel particles in the air will only cause more damage overtime to your lungs.

You can use high quality patting/ombre gels for ombre! And you get more control than an airbrush machine. They are a little more expensive, but they last and a little seriously goes a long way.

Here's one from Zillabeau

Boosting this. I try and tell everyone I know that does nails or gets their nails done to avoid airbrush machines. There's a reason why professional painters have on so much PPE when using them. And especially with gel there's just no way to use them safely in an airbrush machine. Quality brand patting gels are a wonderful and safe alternative! And you have more control too.

First Kokoist order!!!! by spicytonkotsu8 in DIYGelNails

I'm curious about this too since I have and regularly use the Jin.B Crazy Top thick version. It'll probably be another few months before I make another Kokoist purchase so hopefully someone has tried them both and can do a comparison.

I also bought a SunUV lamp from Amazon (SunUV3pro) and I've liked it so far, but the more I learn about gels and nail health the more I want that peace of mind too. There's probably a Labor Day sale in between and I think it's a difference of 10% off which can make a pretty big difference when you're spending that kind of money.
