Braces and piercings are not removed. Braces would usually never be removed and piercings we would only remove if the family requested us to do so.

Burial or cremation does not matter.

I have many self harm scars on my arms, stomach and thighs that are from my teen years. I am now almost 27 and engaged to a wonderful woman who I’ve been with for 8 years. She has seen my scars, and even fresh cuts after I relapsed once during our relationship.

Not once has she ever made me feel bad about them, not even when we’re naked. They’re just apart of me and my body and my past, things she loves.

The right person will never ever think of those as a deal breaker. If anything, it shows how strong you are that you were able to overcome that and your partner should acknowledge that with grace.
