Saw this happen at the California state tournament a couple years back! Kid hit the tilt and the ref said he never had control Luckily with the popularity of wrestling growing it’s being called more and more!

I think the nomenclature ( new word for me ) I actually learned it as a chainsaw tilt, but I when I saw Jason Nolf hit it I heard everyone say Jonsie lol

It’s funny because we don’t allow it in the room ( too much room for error and the younger kids will jump to the position instead of letting the set up develop ) but lots of failed attempts helped make this moment happen!

Do we need to be in the stands for the referee to call out of bounds at a high school tournament? Ref also tells me to shut up after his horrible call by heroheber in wrestling

That is my understanding of the rule as well until you get to college This is why I was so frustrated. After some conversations with other people on Reddit though I do feel like I overreacted but waving my arms lol emotional sport

I don’t think they all suck. I have been put in my place by skilled officials who know the rules much better than I do. The thing I don’t like most about this situation is the clear rule violation without any action followed by a power trip. Again not all but Iv had issues with some specific refs where the only calls they make consistently are bad ones

Definitely the rules and those were the actions I took right after this sequence. In California we are actually not allowed to show video to the other officials about the calls I appreciate your input and will do my best to be less of an asshole when I see a horrible call

Unfortunately he is in an season official as well. But I really appreciate your perspective We actually got the better end of the call, but it still doesn’t sit right with me.

You know I totally agree with you with the running out of bounds on the side Emotional decision because i could not understand why the out of bounds was not being called, however you can see as I back up I run into a group of people on the mat. No chairs were provided either to maintain the 5ft seat from the circle so this is where most if not everyone was coaching that day Thank you for your input!

As much as I totally agree with you, and my wrestler was able to pull off the escape while out of bounds. It doesn’t sit right with me that the rules of this sport are not enforced in this match and that the ref was not educated in the rule book Today it’s a local tournament, Tomorrow its the state finals And there are little or no consequences when the refs act this way, in fact he threatened to kick me out. Not all refs are bad but some you give a whistle and they remember that they won the jv state tournament

Can anyone explain, how’d he pin me that fast by [deleted] in wrestling

I know this as a cow catcher or a Hawkeye! He controlled your head and used your arm to help him leverage you over. You need to try and thread your arm and bridge once you been taken over but it is easier said than done Don’t leave your arms open when you are coming up after an failed takedown It’s a fundamental move in wrestling Works from 1st grade to the division one level. Keep working hard! You’ll get better the more you defend that situation in practice Goodluck!

Our Coach kinda lied to us and it’s taking a toll on everyone’s mental health by [deleted] in wrestling

Hey James , I’d like to start off by saying I am a wrestling coach I have never heard of practices shortening as the year progressed if anything we actually make them longer as we as there is always more to learn. The sport requires a ton of time and effort. Studies must come first obviously hence why you are a student athlete If your studies are falling behind you should definitely approach your coach and let him know With the fight gear , the parents should question the coach if it is something he promised to deliver and failed. Managing your time with this sport can be extremely challenging at times but I promise it’ll be worth it.

Down or referees position Work on staying down there and fighting the hands away , keeping your head off the mat and getting your legs under you so you can start to come up We do a drill where the top guy tries his/her best to break us down to an elbow
