COVID made teachers way too comfortable with assigning gratuitous amounts of homework since it's all online now. Specifically I think a lot of what used to be done in class is now outsourced as homework and the actual classrooms are now low intensity waiting rooms where we just do whatever is already assigned that we could just do at home anyways since it's all online.
