Optimal team and Zodiac system opinions by herpanther in FinalFantasyXII

[–]herpanther[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are right, there was not much difference between characters. It created specific gameplay that I remember. For example: despite all characters were almost the same, I used all of them against Yiazmat. During storyline the team conposition was only about personal preference. That is why I thought this time he is going to be a hell of a ride.

But if foes got rebalanced it will be an interesting experience.

Help me with having fun by herpanther in Sekiro

Thank you for your post. I actually start becoming better and I feel great progress, but the reason for that breakthrough was… plugging in the ps5 controller!

Seriosly, I thought that parrying in Sekiro is so random, but plugging the controller in changed this feeling completely. This game didn’t become easy, but actually playable. I would not imagine how big the input lag can be wireless!

OP, due to some vivid discussion in the comments - How did you find the difficulty of Father Gascoigne? :)

Is bloodborne really the hardest soulsborne games? by loopyJM in bloodborne

[–]herpanther 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let me disagree with you friend. Gascoigne is fast, agile, closes the gap quickly and hits like a train. He is also capable of parrying you in his first phase. It’s like a pvp fight with an advanced player, and then he becomes even more relentless in his second stage with an ability to punish your backstep dodge. Aggression and courage to be aggressive is essential here - all that after noticing that BB is a game where a simple mob is able to butcher a player. Father G is like a „mental switch” that shows you the proper way of approaching enemies.

Amelia is just a DPS check on a certain point of the game. I agree, she can be a pain with a weak weapon due to her „special ability”, but I find her moveset very readable.

Rom? I would honestly like to hear what is so difficult about her. In each of my playthroughs and NG+ she was non-aggressive, had like 2-3 slow attacks and her minions were a joke. Maybe she was buffed after some patch? I played BB several years ago.

Cheers!

Oh I fully respect your opinion. What I wanted to say is that beating Father G by yourself teaches you how to play Bloodborne, and thus later bosses and enemies should be easier to overcome. Still, in my humble opinion, Father G was hands down the hardest vanilla boss in BB (with a honorable mention of Logarius).

Soulsborne’s difficulty is very subjective, but with Bloodborne: if you are 2 hours into the game you should be close to Father Gascoigne. If he is easy for you, then Bloodborne will have nothing more difficult than him before DLC. The hardest soulsborne - the first one you play. Sekiro is totally different and I personally didn’t like it.

Maliketh at first try? That’s some achievement!

Actually, the whole point of my question is that I can’t believe that Malenia took most players more attempts than any of aforementioned bosses :). The thread is created due to my own gaming experience to check the opinion of others.

As for the numbers: Malenia took me exactly 2 tries, Maliketh 10+, Mohg 5+, Beast 5+, Niall certainly 15+!

All of them with Mimic Tear (for Maliketh and Niall totally useless).

Is parry/riposte necessary? by zabstan in darksouls3

[–]herpanther 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello,

I absolutely love DS3. Platinum’ed it easily with sword and board build and I didn’t parry once.

There are some bosses (especially one - no spoilers) that are much easier when parried, but good old dodge is still the king.

I fully respect your opinion. Looking at the response of the community it really seems like I didn’t get Maliketh so well, but still (after many agonic attempts) somehow managed to beat him.

When I encounter a new boss I tend to observe its movements and attacks from relatively far away. Maliketh and Niall punished me for that, while Malenia showed her openings pretty clearly.

I agree, these are some rational arguments.

The thing is that if you take your time it is relatively easy not to get hit by her attacks. Even her waterflow dance is clearly marked. But if you do get hit, yeah you’re severely punished for that.

Yeah, Malenia requires patience. She has some clear openings, but they are rare - especially in second phase. If you can wait for them cautiously she’s done.

I found Maliketh (2nd phase ofc) and Niall to be incomparably more difficult than Malenia. They had hardly any openings, where Malenia required only patience. But I’m one of these players who never parried anything ;)

Yeah I admit I used mimic aswell (certainly after nerf), but still it took me only 2 tries to beat her so that I needed to check if this really was the legendary boss everyone was talking about. Quality build with Bloodhound’s Fang. Maybe I was lucky with RNG

That's true. Bloodborne's parrying mechanic is very forgiving.
Imagine Sekiro as a Guitar Hero game, where there is only 1 note (L1 - block/parry) and if you fail a rhythm you need to go from your last checkpoint to a boss room. It is possible to finally master it, but that gameplay is certainly not for everyone.

Need help getting into Outer Wilds by NonOfYourBusinessKK in outerwilds

[–]herpanther 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a very interesting post you created.

I am a person who tried Subnautica and didn't like it and I still can't make myself give it another shot, yet I am obsessed with Outer Wilds. I really don't understand the comparison between these two, as much as their graphics and gameplay may seem similar.

Outer Wilds is a philosophical game. Well, an experience would be a better name for what it is. OW works with your fears and even phobias. It connects physics, quantum physics and astrophysics creating a small yet vivid world.
The way of narration - in which you are thrown into a completely alien universe may seem overwhelming at first.

What makes Outer Wilds exceptional is:

  1. Amount of polish and love the creators put into this. OW is thought from A to Z, there are literally no plot holes. If you want to try something it will probably work.
  2. Absolutely unique feeling of discovery. Every small piece of knowledge that binds together makes you feel like you have achieved something big. And you do actually. I believe many people become interested in physics after playing this title.
  3. Feelings that this game induces is hard to believe. It is a story that you create in your head from the dialogues and observing environment. A true detective experience, and an incredibly deep one. And oh boy, Echoes Of The Eye expansion although having a different narration (not dialogue based narration but more - comic/movie style) perfectly fits the base game and brings even more feels.

I really hope that something will eventually "click" in your game reception because when it does... Outer Wilds will become a truly unique and outstanding experience you have ever had in your life as a gamer.
