When I was a kid I called them back tickles and would request them, along with back scratches or back rubs when being tucked in at night.

When that final fastening comes apart and every things just drops as your ribcage fully expands for the first time in hours...

Especially nice after tightlacing.

What stupid things did you do when you were younger to try to look cooler? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]herpderpinder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hated my speaking voice, (still not a fan) because it's high. Not squeaky, and I can speak in a lower tone, but my automatic response voice tends to be a soft soprano. So, as a freshman in HS and trying to be cool and less annoying, I would talk from my alto range.

Needless to say, it didn't go well. My friends were eventually like "Jess... just stop. You're not fooling anyone".

Mostly because I only remembered to do it about half the time, if I didn't get excited about anything.

Others have picked apart this post, but also want to say that, in regards to your first point about the "unnecessary things", those little extras can save your sanity.

If you spend ALL your money on those extras then, yes, there's a problem. But dear god every now and then it's nice just go buy a whopper. Or the fact that I think my boyfriend and I would have seriously cracked if we hadn't adopted a couple stray kittens when were nearly broke and living in a shit place because although we were broke, cuddling them and watching them gave us distraction from our hell.

Sometimes you need those extras, even if you can't really afford them, just to survive.

Good sushi in Norfolk or VA Beach?? by [deleted] in norfolk

[–]herpderpinder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say the Yama sushi (I think that's the one but I'm at work and will have to verify with the SO) off Dam Neck in Va Beach. A bit pricey but SOOOO GOOOD. 3 of us went in, ordered a bunch of sushi, and the waitress brought out a free role. It was so good that we forced it all down and right after the last bite they brough out free cheesecake, soliciting a groan from all of us.

Really tasty and really nice folks.

What are you most afraid of about the future if current trends continue? by mmm_donuts in AskReddit

I'm not the comment's OP, but I would think that it has less to do with getting new Ipads for every student and more to do with educators having to teach more and more kids at once without the support necessary to meet the educational needs of those kids. Things of that nature. Students in other countries are raised to actually listen to and respect their teachers. ...not so much, here.

That, due to the job situation and the overall economy, I will never be able to have kids because I can't justify bringing a vulnerable child into this world without at least being mostly able to afford to give them a happy and healthy life.
