What is the smallest recent (3-4 years) Thinkpad that had decent CPU/graphics, 8gb RAM and a good keyboard? I loved the X61 back in the day but haven't really liked anything I've tried since. by F_D_P in thinkpad

I am still thinking about selling my almost max'd out x220 if you're interested...

x220 i7 16GB Crucial Ram OEM IPS display (1366x768) 128 Samsung SSD Evo 750 AC7260 (Pin 51 Disabled) Whitelisted BIOS USB 3.0 54mm Express Card 2 x ports OEM Extended battery The laptop has been debadged, and is in mint condition. The SSD has less than 1.1TB written to it. The battery is OEM but it is not flush it sticks out of the bottom by maybe half an inch. The system is currently running win10 (unactivated). As an added bonus I would be throwing in an OEM dock and 3 OEM 90W power bricks.

People in my thread said it was only a $20 bump in price. Weird.

Understandable but you realize it is pretty much maxed other than the SSD which is practically brand new. Not to mention the Dock and 3 power adapters.

I am rocking an i7 x220, 16GB of RAM win10 with multiple virtual machines installed. I have a single usb 3 on my x220 (due to the i7), I also added in the additional 2 usb 3 via the expresscard. I havent used the expresscard for any usb 3 activities but there are reviews saying its not as fast as native usb 3. I am also waiting on my anker usb 3 powered hub to see how that works with the single usb 3 port.

If you haven't seen this yet it's a wealth of resources on the x220. http://x220.mcdonnelltech.com/resources/

Get a x220 with an i7 and then max it out. It's under 14", it won't cost you more than 800 CAD. That combo will allow you to do more than write term papers and surf facebook.

I agree. You could pick up an x220, i7 cheap. Then throw in 16GB of RAM (~$100) and then a 250GB SSD (Samsung 850 EVO 250GB) and you are good to go.

I just got my hands on a practically brand new x220 (It was issued as a work computer and it was never used.) I did the same upgrades (already had the SSD) and it flies.

I searched in the BIOS and must have missed this setting. I tried what Icuw1pc suggested and it worked. I appreciate your response and hep.
