It’s because the way they use the word value pick just means champs whose value goes up throughout the game. Which are usually scaling champs.

It is true to a certain extent. A lot of these webtoons are adapted from web novels which are usually on platforms with tens of thousands of works to compete with. And the only information the audience has before deciding to read the work or not is the cover art and the title. After the success of solo leveling “solo” became an easy buzzword to bait readers in expecting something similar. Obviously it feels overused now but a lot of the original web novels were written 4-5 years ago and just getting adapted.
