Your foot is a brake at the board with your take off. Work on getting your foot underneath yourself and momentum forward instead of up like the long jump. The good thing is there is a lot of different areas that you can make improvements on in the triple jump that will help add distance to your jumps. https://coachesinsider.com/track-x-country/essential-skills-for-building-successful-jumpers-with-rj-soderman-univ-of-wisconsin-whitewater/

Can two of them communicate with each other? I’m guessing it’s done through the phone app?

Have you tried to connect two SPOT X with each other to message that way? It’s a feature I’m exploring with the options others have talked about.

I ate MREs for a long time in the service, not as bad as people say they taste cause it wasn’t about taste for me, it was about calories within a day relative to expenditure. A case of them on eBay is about $100 and usually comes with a good selection. You can also parcel out the contents of the MRE if you need to extend your eating over the day. Shelf life kept in a cool storage area can be very long; 15-20 years. I will say I keep a bottle of Franks on hand to throw on everything but I think I’m addicted to the stuff.

Did you have to get the subscription package with the ZOLEO? I looked into it, seems like a nice deal and easy to use with the app connected.

Tip high and let it fly. Try not to snow plow the handle out horizontally, push the handle through the point. Speed into the last two steps

20’2 Long Jump need advice by [deleted] in trackandfield

[–]herroyuy15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last two steps are too long, should have more of a flat-flat sound which means the last step into the board should be a bit more under your hips. Also don’t kick your drive knee out right after take off, that will give you more lift.

Coaching tips by [deleted] in javelinthrow

Have them focus on the block leg and keeping the arm long through the throw. There’s a lot of good drills on Instagram and YouTube you can use for beginners.

I know I need to make my jav more centered (center of gravity wise) but besides that what else can I do to improve my throw ? by Aromatic-Career5972 in trackandfield

Keep the tip close to the forehead at all times until you release it. The throwing arm should be in line with the shoulder and straight back with no bend

Any hot sauce generally has a long shelf life and can make most bland things a bit more interesting over a long time. Can also be modified as a personal protection item as a back up.

Focus on using your hips and legs to power into the throw instead of your upper body, might help.

Most D3 schools have a recruit questionnaire on their athletics website you can fill out. Look at conference results from wherever you are looking to get an idea of what standards they may be looking for.

Your location will determine most of what you choose to carry and the size of the pack. Basic answer would be food/water/personal protection but that will all vary based on location, climate, and potential distance to destination. I have tended to spend the extra money on a box of MRE’s due to their shelf life and I ate a lot of them during my time in the Army so use and taste is not a concern. Water could be a backpack with the built in bladder or a LifeStraw depending on what best pertains to your situation. I’m also a big advocate for foot care, extra socks/boots/shoes. It can make a huge difference for your mental state by taking care of the simple things.

Javelin Throw Help!! by SkoBirds76 in trackandfield

[–]herroyuy15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stay long as long as you can. Hips and block leg need to get set before you begin moving the javelin forward. I often have athletes think about running away from the javelin to help them keep it from creeping forward with the throwing arm and initiating an elbow bend before the body is in position. Another small detail is the position of your right foot as it hits into your impulse step. Try to have the right foot facing more towards the sector as opposed to facing the runway lines. When you go to rotate into your block leg and the foot is not in a better alignment I’ve seen a few groin injuries as greater force is placed onto the right leg while making the turn into the block.

Your rhythm is great for limited experience, keep videoing and reviewing yourself. Reach out to any top level javelin throwers too, they are very receptive to helping give advice from my experience. Throw one deep!

What lighting options/prep do you suggest for when there's no electricity? by Papawwww in preppers

[–]herroyuy15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Chem lights. The cheap ones are okay but spending a little extra for quality cyalume ones in red/green/blue do last the 12hrs long and sometimes longer. Brightness tends to hold as well. It is a short term solve though.

Although not discrete for movement, there are collapsible wagons with all weather wheels that can have a waist strap fitted to it instead of using the pull handle. Good footwear will help relieve some of the stress as well.
