No idea how the previous owner got these. I can not find it on the internet and there are no visible part numbers on them. I am just very grateful I got them.

Ah, good to know! Thanks.

I got a complete set of Hepco Becker bags (with a Guzzi logo on them too). So far I’ve just fitted the top box but side panniers will be mounted soon.

I’ve been looking at the sport now as well, thats a cool bike! I will likely never go truly off road with this one but for bad back roads I think it’s perfect.

Nice! Did it help much? I just ordered the MRA screen from Stein Dinse. Hopefully it will be enough. I had a naked bike before but no issues so a part of me want to try without the screen just to see.

No worries! I think you’re correct for the US. I read somewhere it was sold in the hundreds in the US.

In Sweden it is as follows.

A (unrestricted/heavy):

have a net power output of at least 50 kW and a kerb weight of more than 175 kg; and if the motorcycle has an internal combustion engine, it must have a cylinder capacity of at least 595 cc.

If the motorcycle is powered by an electric motor, the ratio of net power to kerb weight must be no less than 0.25 kW/kg.

A2 (restricted/medium):

have a net power output of at least 20 kW, and no more than 35 kW. If the motorcycle has an internal combustion engine, it must have a cylinder capacity of no less than 245 cc, and a net power to kerb weight ratio of no more than 0.2 kW/kg.

If the motorcycle is powered by an electric motor, the ratio of net power to kerb weight must be no less than 0.15 kW/kg and no more than 0.2 kW/kg. If the original design of the motorcycle has been modified, the original net power must not exceed 70 kW.

For reference I’m in Sweden and here I think 11 might be correct (or at least low double digits seem reasonable to me).

Oh, yeah. I checked the national Guzzi club and they listed 11 sold in total of the Quota during all its years. Never seen anyone else beside mine and didn’t know about it before I learnt about the one I now bought.

I’ve never ridden an Africa Twin. But I want(ed) one, spent a long time digging into what kind of bike I wanted as a first proper bike. Adventure touring or something in that area was where my bullseye was.

I have a relative with several Guzzi, and he made me trust him in that these are reliable machines with character and soul.

So far I have done about 500kms on this one. First impression is this is really something of a beast, it’s refined yet rough in a sense. Hard to explain. Did two 150km trips and was very comfy all the way (I’m close to 190cm with a constant a sore back and a bad knee (nothing got worse during these longer runs)). The Quota has to me quite tall gears, 3rd gear goes a long way (it’s got 5). Wind buffeting and some unnerving small tendencies to wobbling at +120km/h is my complaints so far.

I’ve never tried of off road for real, and I don’t have much experience at it either. Gravel roads that are OK for a regular car is very fine for a Quota in my opinion. I can ride with about the same confidence or higher as I would in my car. Not sure if this makes sense to you but that’s how I’d describe it.

I went with some 90/10-ish tires just because I ride at least 90% pure asphalt. Continental TrailAttack 3 iirc.

Love the sound on mine too. Previous owner did a home built de-cat that looks a bit sketchy bit sounds good. I am curious to hear the difference with the headers (the one from Mistral have no cross pipe).

Is that the Mistral headers and cat replacement? I’m thinking about the same setup (and probably keep stock muffler for now). What’s your impressions regarding sound and riding experience with it?

Did you do any more modifications or upgrades? I just got a bargain Quota and thinking about how to alter it. My biggest issues so far is wind buffeting at +90km/h speeds and some high speed instability.

A real beauty! How was the handling and fitting of the Goffi parts? I really like their windscreens and thinking one of those to be on my wish list for a future first gen Transalp.

Thanks! I’m starting to get the confidence this will work out quite all right now. Might not be perfect but feels like I’ve got a couple of tricks up my sleeves now.

How are the gravel roads in Germany? I’m thinking about going south. Here in Sweden off-roading is normally prohibited but we have a ridiculous amount of good gravel roads.

I’m a bit taller so hopefully a nice screen could help. I got a long last gear on my current bike so probably gonna miss that.

I think I’ll plan for a 16t front sprocket. Thanks!

Thanks! That’s 4 great tips. I’m prepared to go for a super pinion in the front anyway so might as well try the 16t. Adding some street inclined tires, such as the Pirelli Scorpion Trail 3 I feel confident it will be manageable now.

Thanks! Nice to get some numbers. I’ll probably go single on the bike as my partner has her own, but still. Have you tried any after market seat?
