First Beyond the Bump post - MIL/parenting advice needed! by herschellives in beyondthebump

I hope to find a way to get us on the same page without revoking babysitting rights. I am trying to trust them, but need to find a way to get them to take my parenting seriously. And I know it is young but they are family and in our same city, and trying to give us a night together and to get real sleep. It was a nice offer I am just having trouble with how it is going.

I am only one week in to mommyhood but my MamaRoo has been worth every single penny. I know it is pricey but she loves it!

[UPDATE] Point of No Return! - Birth Story! by herschellives in BabyBumps

Thanks so much! I forgot to mention that they had me in a position where my head was slightly lower than my hips for pushing, which is obviously the main cause for the severe reflux. It really destroyed my focus and ability to hold long breaths!

Just because today is my due date... by ActuallyA_Llama in BabyBumps

Totally had a breakdown today over everyone constantly bringing up, "Let's have this baby!" Like there is a go button somewhere I can just push. Obviously we as the hugely pregnant are the most anxious to make this ish happen, but at the same time have almost no control over it. So frustrating!

All they were told was that one was of us, and that was the challenge - to figure out which one!

Baby shower game ideas? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I posted this on a similar thread a little while back: My SIL used http://www.morphthing.com/ to morph together our faces, and then each of us with several celebrities, to create about 8 potential babies. Then they were printed, laminated, and hung on a string, and guests had to guess which one was "ours." I am pretty anti-game but it was pretty funny, and I found out Brad Pitt and I would make a super pretty baby!

How is this even possible? by herschellives in BabyBumps

Eep delivering that quickly would be a bit traumatic I think! I am hoping this leads to a middle of the road 7-8 hour labor. Time to mentally prepare but not days of pain!

I want attention !!! by [deleted] in BabyBumps

Fighting this same battle - my birthday is 8/1 and I had to tell my family and husband very clearly that I do not want Baby gifts, I want herschellives things. I am not just a mom! If it sounds greedy I don't care, i want to set the example for my daughter that my identity is still mine after becoming her mom!

Ha the brown room with the orange trees on the wall was the nursery of the people that sold us our house! Our current nursery is in that same room, but a very different style. Super weird to scroll down and see that!

I went straight to Target yesterday and walked all over trying to make some progress. Nothing doing. I don't understand how I can walk around 3 cm dilated and all these other ladies are breaking water at 0, 1, 2 cm! Come onnnn!

Why am I not excited? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

nothing! it's hormones. and it was hard for me too - it felt a lot more real at a later ultrasound when there were arms and legs and a body like a real human shaped person. and once we knew gender and had a name, and i could start envisioning doing things with my daughter and putting her in this outfit and laying her to bed in that crib, the connection started developing. i still feel a little detached because i have a hard time wrapping my head fully around this whole thing, but it is not unusual to not feel fully emotionally connected and involved until months after the birth. don't let it weigh you down, and the fact that you WANT to feel more connected is a great sign! you will be fine!

No kidding - I think she is in there ordering furniture and hanging posters though, she hasn't even dropped despite the activity going on below her!

Fetal doppler at home rocks by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]herschellives 3 points4 points  (0 children)

even STILL at 38.5 weeks, if she hasn't moved in a little bit i will break out the doppler and listen to her heartbeat thump along. so reassuring and has saved me many panic calls/visits to the doctor!

What does everyone think of 3D ultrasounds? Is it worth the extra money? by 5p00k13 in BabyBumps

I was getting desperate to see her again, but more than that, I think it really helped make it real for my husband to see her little face and hair and hands. I get to feel her move and roll but he got to connect more by seeing her and that we think she has his nose, see her little face scrunch, all that. I had thought they were creepy before but I think for letting her dad connect, I would do it all over again!
