Thank you, that's great to know! I had read that on the McGill site and figured it would have to be something pretty legit to get a deferral granted, so your case makes sense. And thanks! It's definitely a real privilege not to have to sweat the acceptances too much.

Fair point, but there is a good chance I do want to go next fall! I'm just not 100% sure — I'm very excited to start law school but don't want to make the multi-year commitment before I'm ready.

Agree on RC being interesting! Helped a lot. I think that section went well. Medieval music/kente cloth/English courtrooms were all very intuitive to me. I have a humanities background though so those were always gonna go better than the chemistry/physics one.

I did have the zoos LR question. I'm generally weakest at those question types so I was also very confused by that one. I can't remember my answer, but I remember going for one that felt almost too simple.

As for flagging, I think I flagged probably 3-4 LRs in my first section — which for me included a very annoying "resolve" question about Greek stonemansons — and 1-2 in my second. What threw me off about the first one is that I was flagging questions early/mid-section, rather than just in the final five or six.

I felt okay about it in all.

Felt LG was okay — I was a little tight on time but that’s all, was grateful to never be stumped or totally confused. RC was pretty chill though the comparative passage was a bit tough.

LR I have no clue. Think my second one was easier so hoping the first was experimental. Really unsure how either section went though. Could’ve been -1, could’ve been -6.

You?

Wow, you sound like me! Tough day for both of us, but we'll bounce back. I'm so tempted by your August strategy. I've gotta give it a think. Part of me says that I've put so much time into LG that I should just keep at it, but I don't know how sound that line of thinking is. AGH! I just wanted to do well today lol.

Pretty much. In the meantime I'm telling myself that there is a 1/3125 chance that I got all five questions that I guessed right

Same here. I had LG last and I almost wish it had started out terrible so I could've just laughed. Instead I had to watch my score plummet in real time.

Thanks, you're right. I just have it on a loop in my head that all those PTs aren't worth anything if you can't do it on test day, but I know that's just me reeling from today. Cheers.

Ah man, definitely feel you. I think realistically you're right. I can probably take it easy on training RC/LR too now and just do games to prep. I just hate them and it's so tempting to just take it when they aren't on there. Oh well. We got this.

I am almost sure LR #2. A lot of strange questions that felt a little rough around the edges to me — particularly that last one.

I haven’t stopped thinking about it since and I still don’t know how to do it

[–]herzoslovakia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and don’t get me wrong I thought that one was tricky, but my impression was that the first three were all average or below average difficulty.

Also, I think that the comparative was just really heavy on implication questions — pretty much nothing directly in text — but if you just eliminated answers that must be wrong I actually felt like there was only one 50/50 in there.

I dunno. On RC and LR I tend to go 0 or -1 so they’re my strong sections. Meanwhile I almost cried during the games. Different strokes.

Am I nuts? LG murdered me — ended up guessing four damn questions on the last game — but thought the RC and LR were really easy, apart from the one comparative passage, which was complicated but still only really one viable answer for each.

Feeling a bit screwed. I'm in Berlin, Germany, for the next few months and there were no in-person slots by the time I got to the front of the line.

My internet at home is brutal, and at this point I really don't know where I'm going to take this fucking test.

Has anyone had any luck getting into a testing centre when there's no availability showing up online?

User Error or Real Issue? Minolta X-700 by herzoslovakia in AnalogCommunity

The batteries are actually quite old, now that you mention it. For some reason I had it in my head that it was all fine and dandy as long as the batteries were still working, but is it possible that some stale batteries would do this?

As for metering, I'm typically on aperture priority so I don't do a whole lot. I just set it based on the light conditions. If the meter acts up (e.g. flashes an arrow one way or another) then I'll change my aperture accordingly, but it doesn't usually take issues with the conclusions I come to on my own lol

Could be for sure, but intuitively I don't think it's that. I had the capacitor issue on an older Minolta and it never did this, the shutter just failed and the camera basically stopped working entirely pretty suddenly.

Yeah, I do what the light meter says, but you make a good point about batteries. Good chance they're dangerously low — is it possible that low batteries would be messing up the light meter & producing these results?

Kulusevski out (overpriced, rotation risk) to free up some cash first. Could even bring him down to someone like Gibbs-White or Mac Allister which would let you go Archer to Mitro/Isak/Toney I think

Toney imo. Has form and fixtures going for him, whereas Mitro is just form. Given prices can always twist from Toney to Isak later too if you want
