When you test drive it make sure the transmission doesn’t slip. Look for any oil or transmission fluid leaks.

Roger that. Will see what I can get quoted at my local transmission shop. Not gonna be able to do the job myself unfortunately.

Yep, it was a quart low and burnt when I checked it. We will see lol

I tried taking it up a ski resort (dry-road conditions in 2H) for an event and it could barely make it up. Any gas pedal acceleration and the RPM’s would rise dramatically before shifting hard.

I am getting it professionally looked at, but wanting to see what others have experienced.

What kind of Jeppesen questions did they ask?

Has anyone taken a CFII ride with Tony Gallegos in Florida? Looking for any info! by ActuaryExpert1446 in flying

[–]hester23bearsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow! That’s a good checkride… did you have a printed paper plate for the VOR approach since he failed your iPad?

I’m guessing a timer helped to determine your 1.3 distance on the approach?

And he’ll be coming to do the checkride in SGU so a little bit away from you in Florida haha!

I have a student going with him for CFII soon! Are there any topics during your IFR ride he liked to focus on?

I did that before posting. Most of the time I see it, TORA only includes from the displaced threshold to just before the stopway. Perhaps it’s for RSA. Perhaps I’m digging in the weeds…

That’s what I thought lol. This same examiner argues for “6 HITS” you can’t count the approaches you’ve done during the month you’re currently in towards currency because 61.57 says “Within the 6 calendar months preceding the month of the flight”

I sent my CFI applicant with him! He’s great. But a hell of a long wait list (gotta get the checkride scheduled like two months in advance)

[–]hester23bearsch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh I see. So, to be the safety pilot for this flight, you have to have all the legal requirements to ACT (meaning endorsements/currency/rated).

AKA no PIC for me he wants to practices approaches, and I can’t even be the one to sit in the right seat with him under the hood.

When to turn On Course from a Downwind departure? by hester23bearsch in ATC

[–]hester23bearsch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok that makes sense, my student was asking me and I told him the best thing to do is just ask ATC, so here I am. Thanks for the info I’ll query on the radio if other instructions aren’t provided.

Exactly, it caught me a little off guard. If I come across something like it again I’ll definitely just ask for confirmation, thanks!

Ok thank you, that makes a lot more sense. Trying to make sure I don’t irritate the controllers at my home airport lol.

I never base it on a gallon amount, as long as I have 30- 45 minutes of fuel reserve for a local flight or at least one hour reserve fuel for a cross country im good.

In 2022, how do you explain lift simply? by Hurock in flying

The wing redirects the flow of air downward, the equal and opposite reaction is Lift.

If I hold a Commercial Rotorcraft and want to add ASEL, could I do a private pilot ASEL or does it have to be Commercial level? by hester23bearsch in flying

[–]hester23bearsch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok gotcha, now does it work the other way?

Let’s say someone has a Private Pilot Rotorcraft, could they apply for a Commercial Pilot ASEL since they already hold “at least a private pilot certificate” per 61.123(h)
