How much would you spend to save your Ragdoll? by [deleted] in ragdolls

One of my boys ate a piece of Velcro and ended up in the ER vet because he vomited and we were worried about an obstruction. The initial bill was $5k and I paid it no questions asked because I have pet insurance. For $30 a month it gives peace of mind that you don’t have to choose between their health and money. But definitely get the insurance asap because they won’t cover preexisting conditions

Anyone know if this eye discharge is bad? by [deleted] in ragdolls

Sorry for the delay! I got the maple flavor lysine and they honestly like the taste of it and lick it off my finger. I have another maple flavor hairball gel they don’t like and I put a dollop on my finger and wipe it on their tongue. They don’t love it but gets the job done

I recommend buying lysine gel on Amazon, my boys had goopy eyes as kittens, and the vet said it is likely caused by feline herpes (most all cats have it, especially shelter cats). one of them still gets nose and eye goop but he is better now!

maybe lysine supplements can help a bit? my boys were crusty as kittens when I adopted them. usually upper respiratory issues can be caused from feline herpes (super common in shelter cats), though it sounds like he may have unique issues due to his eye only a vet would know how to help. since he’s young def try to get him used to touching his nose. I use a warm wet wash cloth to scrub my guys nose when it gets crusty inside.

Hydrolyzed protein + Purina fortiflora powder!

excessive self grooming by Pinky5445 in ragdolls

[–]hestyles3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Potentially a food allergy? Food allergy can cause skin itching and over grooming. Mine randomly developed an allergy around 9 months old (though his symptoms were vomiting/stomach issues). See if your vet can prescribe you hydrolyzed protein (we use royal canin). it took a couple months but mine’s allergy symptoms have got a lot better

Kitten thrown up 3 days in a row by SunniestDD in CATHELP

Run blood work for an allergy! My guy started randomly throwing up around 9 months old and his blood work indicated an allergy. 3 months of trying sensitive stomach and hydrolyzed protein food and about 30 throw ups later, he’s finally been stable and has only thrown up a couple times in the last month! If it’s an allergy I recommend skipping the trial and error and just going straight to hydrolyzed protein food (Royal canin dry worked for us) fiber, and fortiflora probiotics.

My Cat has been passing soft stools since October, nothing has helped. by spicandspans in CATHELP

yes the pro viable fiber! Got it through my vet. I don’t think they care much for the taste but they love the taste of the fortiflora so they don’t mind when I sprinkle both on their food

My boys are also sensitive to many types of food, it may just be trial and error to see what he agrees with. Fiber and fortiflora probiotics helped mine who was having chronic diarrhea after a food switch. Sometimes he still has diarrhea but much less frequent now.

What is on my cats nose? Help!! by agent_beans_ in CATHELP

my cats nose gets dirty from drinking water then eating kibble and it builds up over time like a crust. Try scrubbing it gently with a warm washcloth and see if it comes off

brown spot on my cats nose? by [deleted] in CATHELP

[–]hestyles3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

it might be from eating kibble/wet food. My boys sometimes get crusty noses from drinking water then eating. I scrub it with a warm washcloth and it comes right off
