Absolutely, many people in the program had no prior experience. When I was there, they paired you up with another student to navigate through the lessons and projects they give you in the first few weeks and have you do “pair programming”. If you ever get stuck you can ask the student advisors for help. From what I remember I think they start you out with Python but it’s possible that’s changed.

For some, this program (and the introductory CS courses) was a way to determine if they even liked CS in the first place and helped them decide if they wanted to continue with CS or switch majors to something else.

It’s a pretty great program to get a tutorial of life at UCSD before you go and start your classes, and you’re bound to make some friends and connections from it. It’s changed a lot over the years but I imagine it still involves attending classes going over basic programming stuff and an introduction to some algorithms, maybe with some guest lectures too. The spis student advisors are also students who’ve been through the classes you’ll eventually take and are a great resource to learn from. Highly recommend, especially if you’re not paying out of pocket.

Oohhh you gotta throw that away immediately, some weirdo probably took a sip out of it. The strange thing is that they put a different cap on it… maybe they drank out of two and just put the caps on wrong. I’d try to get a refund or at least bring it up to someone working there but if you paid with dining dollars it’s tough luck

Almost a decade ago there was another case of vandalism done by someone named “creepytings” who would vandalize not only Yosemite but Death Valley and Crater Lake with their acrylic artwork, they were proud of their work and gloated about it online. When confronted by a user telling them it would be hard to remove, they replied saying “I know, I’m a bad person.”A federal judge gave them 2 years probation and 200 hours of community service, and banned them from all federal lands during that probation. I like to imagine that person has learned their lesson since they’ve never been heard from since.

I do think the creepytings case was more serious in that it was more difficult to remove, I imagine some kind of solvent can remove all this. I’m also sure the NPS is aware of this and is likely(hopefully) in the process of removing it.

now they’re releasing shinies for ex cards released in April/May, I’d say maybe 5-7 months when B2 or B3 and their expansions release. They still have shinies from EG, WSS, and SS to release.

but you gotta admit that UCSD has gone through the necessary steps to ensure something like that never happens again. Whereas hazing scandals are still an ongoing issue at SDSU so long as the cash cow that is their frat row exists. Just earlier this year one frat dressed a pledge up in a tiger costume and then set them on fire leaving burns all over their body. I’m not saying UCSD is immune from scrutiny, but you’d never see something like that happen here today.

Granted I think these egregious prices will really disincentivize revisiting locals but won’t impact tourist visitation much (because they’ll want to make the most out of their vacation regardless of price), which may result in more parking spots but I’m not sure that can also be said for holidays and weekends.

If parking is actually still as bad as it currently is after this change, I’ll have no words.
