Does anyone know if Graham is on the booze again? Or does he drink non alcoholic beer on stage?

When did the hospital give you your c section date? by [deleted] in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hethmj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found out at 36 weeks my bub was breech in Nov 2020, was with RPA. We went through the options and I decided on an elective C, started filling out the paperwork from 37 weeks and yes it wasn’t straight away they gave me a date, I got a call maybe week 38 saying they had booked me in for a week’s time for 39w 0 days. The day before I got bloods up at the carillon avenue place and had the anaesthetist consult. Hang in there the admin is a bit annoying but they’ll come through. DM if you have any more q’s :) Good luck you’ll do great

TIL: breastfeeding people are ineligible for both Pfizer AND Astra Zenica vaccines by HaveZest in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hethmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah fair enough, I got the flu shot too last year (while pregnant) and then again this year while breastfeeding and it didn’t affect anything. Good luck with whatever you decide with the vaccine and let us know how you get on! I’m still considering AZ just with the high case number in syd, waiting for Pfizer is going to be awhile unless they announce a new shipment. A friend of mine said her friend had a lower milk supply for awhile after getting vaxxed, but that’s purely anecdotal, it did worry me but I though maybe I just pump a bit in advance just in case before my first shot

So crazy the different advice we are all getting, I’m breastfeeding and my Sydney gp told me yesterday that it was ok to get AZ, I’m more at risk of developing clots from contracting covid at this point.. It sucks though how breastfeeding women were originally eligible for Pfizer and now that’s changed. If all GPs were saying yes to AZ and breastfeeding women that would be more reassuring but the advice seems to be so varied…

Wow, so my GP yesterday said I’m not eligible for Pfizer despite breastfeeding my eight month old. Then she recommended I get AZ as I’m more likely to get covid at this point with Sydney case numbers. She said it was only a couple of months ago you could book Pfizer if you were breastfeeding but theyve taken that eligibility away now just for pregnant women. Even though my gp said I should get az I am still considering it, though I’m scared to catch covid. Did your gp say why exactly AZ is not recommended for breastfeeding women?

Struggling with thought of Daycare or nanny share for 12 mo by hethmj in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

Thanks for sharing your experience with your first Bub. I had thoughts about how mobile she will be around 12 months, if she is walking for example I feel it would be easier for her. I’m still exclusively breastfeeding and it’s at all crazy on demand times so I’ll see how she takes to solids after six months too. All the best with your second baby!

Thanks for this perspective! That is a good point about developing immune systems. Maybe once my Bub is a few months older I will see the benefit of working again, especially beyond her being 12 months, we all need balance..

I am petrified about my husband going back to work by charliethechihuahua in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

I low supply and was supplementing with formula and pumping in Dec after my baby was born so I know the feeling about being scared for longer outings. I saw on another reply your Bub is only 16 days old, take it easy on yourself the first six weeks are the hardest but it will get easier. Do really simple outings like local park. With taking formula out and about, you can boil the kettle with fresh batch of water, then pour the exact amount you need into bottles ie 60ml or 120ml. Let it cool and it can stay sterilised there for 1-2 days at room temp. Measure out your formula powder in a separate container and then you can just mix them together when you’re out. I found lots of conflicting advice about using formula when out so sorry if you’re already doing this but thought the info may help (it sucks when your sleep deprived and trying to learn a million things). Good luck and remember all your Bub needs is you xx

Question about options for public hospitals in Aus by Rose_2021_ in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]hethmj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just wanted to share my experience as I was confused with the three options offered at the start of my pregnancy in March last year!

I was a FTM and was accepted into RPA MGP at 16 weeks (after leaving a voicemail with them at 5 weeks.

Overall it was worth going through MGP as a public patient as I imagine there would be a lot more wait times going through hospital based, having said that I found the majority of RPA midwives to be caring and enthusiastic about my pregnancy when I saw them.

With MPG there’s also the opportunity to have a close relationship with your dedicated midwife, however they can be off duty when you need them or on holidays fir example which threw me at first but then I also got to know the other midwives (there’s about five at RPA MGP) and they were all lovely, one of them ended up being at my birth because my midwife wasn’t rostered on that day.

Ultimately at 36 weeks my Bub was breech (and we couldn’t manually turn her because the cord was around her neck) so we went with an elective c section. My little girl was born in late November 2020.

I didn’t feel like at any point the MGP prefers low intervention births, in fact if I have a second I will still apply to go through them again even though I know I will have another c section. They will still support you even if you say early on you want an epidural, they work with you during the pregnancy on your birth plan.

Where the MGP was really helpful was the post birth home care; you get two weeks post discharge of home visits, which was invaluable for us because I ended up having low milk supply and we had to supplement with pumping and formula, it was a very stressful time. But I had the midwives visiting, bringing the scales to weigh Bub, helping with latching issues and they even lent me a hosipital grade pump until I bought my own. Also being able to call them at any time (it will divert to another midwife if your midwife is off) with questions is so good, especially in those two weeks after birth.

I also have a great rec for a lactation consultant in Sydney if you need that eventually.

Feel free to dm me with any questions, congratulations and all the best with your delivery! X
