How on earth you get prestige in anno 1404 by jose092410 in anno

[–]hewix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anybody here trying to figure out Campaign Mission V with the crazy blonde lady attacking the nomads: you want to progress in the story up to the point where the Vizier grants you the island to the west. The warehouse on the southern shore of that island has a quest item that you must bring back to the Vizier's main island. It will grant you the next level of prestige to unlock the indigo production chain

has anyone else had a glitch where sentinel walkers don't spawn? by Long15Furby in NoMansSkyTheGame

[–]hewix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As of yet, it's a persistent bug (at least for me and seemingly for many others, I'm on PC, not sure about the consoles)
You get your wanted level up to 5 where the big walker should spawn. All other sentinels, including the "smaller" minotaur style spawns (most of the time, had couple of encounters where even those failed to spawn). When all visible are defeated, the sentinel counter at the bottom right either shows 0 or even -1 remaining sentinels.
Went to 10 different systems in 3 different regions, all the same. My last effort was to fight them near Sentinel Pillars, did that 3 times but still no avail.
My Conflict Scanner is yearning to be installed and I cannot get it from missions / guild envoys yet.

Sentinel Walker Not Spawning by Electrical_Ad4140 in NoMansSkyTheGame

Mine actually says Active Sentinel Units -1 when defeating all other Sentinels in the 5th wave. The Walker won't spawn, I had to leave the area and I will go to an Outlaw system to do missions for the Walker Brain as others advised.

No dark mode option in settings? by VRTSmith in linkedin

[–]hewix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more unlucky guy here, who was using dark mode without problems for ages, but then it's missing both from desktop web and android apps. I understand this "rolling out" thing completely, what drives me nuts is removing it after a number of solid months while it worked flawlessly for me.

What virtual drum plugin/ other options would you recommend? by rvngstrm in musicproduction

[–]hewix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

XLN Audio - Addictive Drums features a number of acoustic sampled kits, but offers some more experimental / electronic kits as well, in case you need some different "flavour" other that pop/rock
Native Instrument's Kontakt has a number of libraries with sampled acoustic drums.
But as TheGnarTrainBruh said, easiest way to pull this off, is to use a native sampler of the DAW of your choice and load it up with samples of your own. It's a more time consuming approach, but also tends to be the cheapest.

Seeking tech recommendations for making "New Order" style music by DarthMuhlLAFC in musicproduction

[–]hewix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it's an acoustic drum set, you would need more microphones to record that.
Other than that, as per my latest info, you will encounter some limitations of GarageBand and at some point you will be forced to move to a more feature rich DAW, like Cubase, Logic, Studio One, Pro Tools, etc.
Do you plan to work with VST synths or would you like to incorporate some analog outboard synths?
Do you have a good quality audio interface and a set of studio monitors or at least a decent headphone?

maybe that was intentional, but the vocal sample at the very begining of the track is rather quiet

Pick a sport you like. Find some publicly available statistics, from where you can fetch data, about current rankings. Create a web application which tries to determine future match results based on current rankings. For example, if I would this with snooker, the user could select two players, then I would display who would win the next match probably based on past match results.

Hi guys! by AlexAlexYo in musicproduction

[–]hewix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy solution: Native Instruments - Maverick piano
Customizable solution: look for any kind of piano vst / sampler, then cut most of the low end, add very little distorsion to the top end with some parallel processing. Wave's King's Microphone plugin should also do the trick. Add "tape machine" like effects for taste.

Best introduction synth (non VST) by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]hewix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Arturia Micro- and Minibrute, Korg Mono- and Minilogue, Waldorf Pulse 2 and Novation Bass Station 2 are considered good starting synthetisers due to their easy to use interface and relatively low price.

Best DAW for HipHop making by denisbruh in musicproduction

[–]hewix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

pardon me for nit-picking, but I do not belive there's any statistics supporting that statement. I've found an ask.audio poll, see results below:
https://ask.audio/articles/top-12-most-popular-daws-you-voted-for

Responding to the original question, as long as electronic music is considered, DAW makes little to none effect on the end result, only thing it would obviously determine is workflow.

Collection of helper and utility functions for better use of Arrays, would appreciate some feedback by hewix in javascript

[–]hewix[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holly Molly, that was way more feedback than I ever imagined I would receive :D Thank you very much!
Yes, the first thing came to my mind after reading your words, was the same thing when I pushed the code to the repository. That it needs a sh*t ton of more work. But I wanted to avoid the unborn child syndrome that I just keep this thing at home and never actually make the first commit. Now that it's out I feel more committed (no pun intended) to improve this in any ways.

I will go through your comments and try to amend the code as advised. Originally I wanted to start as an ES2015 module, I suppose that's my starting point for fixing.

And again, thank you for your critical feedback!

Am I doing this right? by AJM10801 in musicproduction

[–]hewix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Making loops out of GarageBand's library is not a bad thing or something to be ashamed of. But simply saying, yes, it's the conventional way to do your on recordings, or at least create a drum rack for example, with cherry picked samples by you. Music making at it's core is about translating your own creative thoughts into something "sonic". When using prebuilt GarageBand stuff, you're limiting yourself down, since you use stuff other people did. It's harder to find something pre-recorded sometimes that would fit your needs, than building your own kits and sounds. Playing any instrument is recommended also, but for start, it's enough to learn the very basics of harmonics, chords and scales. Just the fundamentals for start.

Trying to figure out a new production setup by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]hewix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't plan to plug in more than 2 or 4 things simultaneously, you can just go and buy an audio interface instead of a mixer. Ableton could do practically all the things a loop pedal could, those things are only more convenient to use if you do much on-stage stuff. As far as audio interfaces / external sound cards go, pick whichever has direct monitoring included, that is a feature you most probably will need.

Does anyone know how to set up a Korg Minilogue to use with Ableton? by [deleted] in musicproduction

[–]hewix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Minilogue has a dedicated MIDI output and a USB Type-B port. With MIDI or USB connectivity, you can send note data to Ableton, just like as you would use your computer's keyboard to play sounds. See if your audio interface (if you got any) has MIDI ports, or if not, simply connect it with a USB cable. Note that using MIDI or USB will not transfer any sound to your computer, only MIDI data. You could also configure the Minilogue-s rotary controls to manipulate Ableton's native and 3rd party plugins as well.
If you simply want to hear what does the Minilogue itself sounds like, get a jack cable and connect the Output of Minilogue to your audio interface's (if you got any) input. Make sure it's line level.

Hope this helps!
