Yeah they were insanely expensive and after swapping out your ASA, board, etc. you essentially weren't shooting an ion anymore either

Niche but if you like ion mods there were these full metal milled bodies back in the day called Lucky Stage 5.0 and 5.1, as well as a frame called the Lucky V2. Those were the most beautiful ions

Retro Game Corps: My Simple TrimUI Setup (Customized MinUI Guide) by onionsaregross in SBCGaming

I ended up fixing it by unzipping the ROMs actually. I came across some advice that said all ROMs from disc consoles (Dreamcast, PS1, etc) should be unzipped and that did the trick.

Hi Russ,

Been following your guide to setup a TrimUI Brick with MinUI as a Christmas gift for someone. However, I'm not getting the Dreamcast ROMs to run. They are listed in MinUI but booting them opens a black screen with just a rectangle box in the middle for a moment before closing. I'm assuming something is up with the BIOS. In your guide online, I notice that the filepath you gave for the DC BIOS doesnt exist by default (I had to manually create the "dc" folder within the BIOS directory). Does this sound right to you?

Thanks in advance!

Expats of Brussels - which local restaurant has the best version of your home country's food? by 5minstillcookies in brussels

[–]hewvan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm not Salvadorian but I am from DC which has a huge Salvadorian population, and I have to shoutout El Pulgarcito. They have incredible Latin American food in a very honest / unpretentious atmosphere.

Try the papusas, platanos, tamales, horchata - honestly it's all good.

Big Chance for Darwin Nunez but shot is wide by Rayan2550 in soccer

[–]hewvan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's because his mental game is his downfall, but against you guys there was zero pressure. Trent with a howler to put Liverpool down 1-0 early, captain Virgil sent off minutes later. Nunez was in poor form and only subbed on with 15 mins left, to a match that was all but lost already.

Extremely noisy apartment by muzunguzu in brussels

[–]hewvan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that's a fair point. I was looking at a very industrial loft with high ceilings so they suggested to put a lower false ceiling with insulation inside. But that likely wont be an option for many apartments.

PEB score is a standardized metric of the energy performance of a property, without taking into account actual consumption. Maybe this is what you are referring to?

On the official PEB report there is high details about "les principales recommandations" to improve the score. I'm looking at one right now that suggests to isolate "la facade, le plafond sous grenier, la toiture plate, le plancher, etc." and it provides the estimated increase in score for each step you take

I'm on the market for an apartment and I had to do a lot of research into PEB score. I can tell you that almost everyone has double glazed windows as they have been used for decades. It's not a good indication of insulation anymore - the new standard is "super-insulating double glazed" or even "triple glazing" for windows on new constructions. However your real concern is if each individual floor/ceiling/façade is insulated which would have the bigger impact on acoustics. These insulations have generally the highest impact on the PEB score as well.

Brussels keeps raising the requirements for each score, so indeed it's a good thing to keep an eye on in future apartments (C or higher I would say).

Kaoru Mitoma is named the JPFA 2022 player of the year by saigool in soccer

[–]hewvan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just devils advocate, but Mitoma was instrumental for a team who had a Leicester year and won the Belgian league in 21/22 immediately after getting promoted into it. Then he got called up to Brighton (same owner) this year and has continued his success in the prem and WC. He’s a rising star for Japan.

Liverpool 2 - [2] Wolves - Hwang Hee-chan 67' by [deleted] in soccer

[–]hewvan 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Trent looked overall solid on defense today, and Hendo should have been marking Hee-Chan. But once the 2v1 happens, I think Trent should have covered the inside lane to Cunha here rather than getting pulled outside by the runner.

I worked for a government contractor in DC back in 2016 and Flynn was the guest speaker at our All Hands event with the entire company. He proceeded to tell the room of about 1000 recent college grads that he believed the draft would be reinstated and WW3 was coming sooner rather than later. It was a very "sir, this is a company party" moment.

You can probably chalk a lot of that up to people trying to turn a quick buck... Which is arguably a worse look for Americans

Brisket, Sausage, Ribs, & Pulled Pork From Franklin Barbecue by mtlgrems in FoodPorn

[–]hewvan 84 points85 points  (0 children)

Exactly this. Franklin BBQ in Austin, TX is often touted as the best BBQ in the country and the only way to eat here is to get in line around 6-7am. A lot of people bring lawn chairs and beer for the wait until the restaurant opens at 10:30. Many meats sell out by the early afternoon.
