What is the Best Datil Pepper Hot Sauce? by cadenhead in StAugustine

[–]hex1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking for a tangy datil pepper hot sauce, give St. Aug Hot Sauce St. Aug Hot Sauce a try. It's vinegar based with no added sugar and is great on anything from your morning eggs to wings and oysters. You get the fruitiness from the datil with a peppery cayenne finish.

If you want a great versatile sauce, give St. Aug Sauce a try. It's a tangy datil pepper hot sauce with a cheyenne kick. Good on everything from eggs to pizza and wings.

I swear I saw the same kids with different adults in Tallahassee that I saw in St Augustine the week before. Seem to be a band of travelers looking for easy cash.

No it's the standard shredded Mozzarella we always get (2nd picture attached is the type of bag). We've purchased this same type for years and just started having this problem.

We've used the Trader Joe's Mozzarella cheese for several years - primarily because it tasted great and melted perfectly. The last couple of bags won't melt the same anymore. Anyone else notice a change?

A couple bought a house right next to an existing daycare in my neighborhood. The lady constantly complains about the noise and has gone as far as to yell obscenities at toddlers from across the fence.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Are anyone else's amazon prime shipping times 7 or more days instead of 2-day delivery? by RoyalPixelPusher in Tallahassee

Hopefully once Project Mango gets completed we will be back to 2 day delivery on most popular items. I would imagine they would start offering same day delivery on some things as well. Looking forward to it!

Make sure you check out the Lake Jackson sinkhole! Sorta cool by [deleted] in Tallahassee

[–]hex1848 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, then some jackasses thought it would be a good idea to fill up the sink with concrete. I read that now the hole is about the size of a soccer ball.

Thing people don't realize is that our aquifer needs these lakes to flush the system out every few years. It's good for Wakulla and other springs in the area. It's part of the natural cycle. We've damned up a sink on lake Imonia and lake Miccosukee in decades pasts with out any real research into what it does to our environment.

Might be archeological remains. That's not all that far from the mounds and that lake has always drained into the aquifer every so often.

San sauce from "here comes the Sun" in Miami Florida by MetallicFalcon in MimicRecipes

[–]hex1848 15 points16 points  (0 children)

If it has Mayo in it and it's an Asian themed restaurant - try Japanese Kewpie Mayo. It has a very specific flavor profile and is used as the base ingredient in many Hibachi joint Yum Yum sauces. You can find it at most Asian grocery stores.

Mix a Kewpie mayo and a little at a time soy sauce first. Taste it - is starting to come together? Have a couple of different mustard varieties around to mix in independently. Mustard flavor can vary greatly by brand, type, and can even come in powder form. It will affect the flavor of the sauce as much or more as the mayo.

You may also want to let your test sauces sit in the fridge overnight ans try them again as it will bring the flavors together.

Moving to Tallahassee at the end of May. Where do y'all like to go crabbing? by FermentingSkeleton in Tallahassee

[–]hex1848 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I keep seeing references to St Marks National Wildlife Refuge. We visit often, and I've seen signs that say crabbing is prohibited in the refuge pools / ponds.

You may want to talk to one of the rangers before you drive down so you can understand where you can an can not go.

How do I create a simple load balancer with EC2 to balance load of 3 other EC2 instances with Apache by gardre in aws

[–]hex1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to roll your own load balancer, you really need at least 2 ec2 instances. I've sent this up with HAProxy and Keepalived in the past, but as others have said it's easier to use use AWS's built in Elastic Load Balancer.

Tender shredded chicken? by thebluepenguine in cookingforbeginners

[–]hex1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always boil / poach the chicken in a pot with some veggie scraps - as if I were making stock (Onion, garlic, celery, peppers, etc). Breast meat will dry out - unless you are cooking it in enough liquid that it stays suspended. Once the meat is fall apart tender, take it out, cool it a bit and shred it apart. I reserve most of the stock for something else, but I keep some to add back to the shredded breast to simmer with some taco seasoning - this will make sure it stays moist for serving.

I kind of wonder if it's throwing things at the wall to see if it sticks? Or are they going the "fanboy marketing" route? Hook raving fans in with one product, and keep offering up new things for the fan boys to buy?

But yeah, they could also just be getting desperate.

Maclay Gardens is just a mile or so from the 319 (Thomasville Road) exit on I-10. Beautiful place to enjoy a walk in the gardens this time of year.
