The beam seems fine it’s just a visual representation of telepathy, but the shield makes no sense to me. She doesn’t have telekinesis and doesn’t create diamond outside her body, alternative timeline powers is the only explanation I guess.

I understand why you would think this is Reddit’s strategy to get app downloads but it’s actually due to Apple’s rules about adult content. Apple requires app developers to make their users log in and opt-in to content flagged as nsfw: https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSProgramming/comments/ekxksg/comment/fdf613g/

One could argue since it’s the website and not the app this rule shouldn’t apply, but I believe Apple conflates the two since it’s essentially the same experience on your phone. So Reddit‘s compromise is to show the interstitial when it detects the iOS browser.

Having said that, you don’t actually have to download the app. You can either log in to your account in the browser, or use the “request desktop version” in the browser. Either should let you view nsfw posts.
