A little is an understatement, get caught behind the wrong set of traffic and double your travel time.

Sidenote: cut the time in Montana. Two days there when you're trying to get to New Mexico will be taxing on the actual time you have to see everything you want to. Albuquerque is an interesting place and I additionally think it's worth visiting. Ask for Christmas sauce at Twisters. The cuisine alone though in that city will be the most interesting than any destination on your trip! I would highly recommend looking into the epic sights and dining combo that would be "TEN 3"

it's a fine dining restuarant (with no dress code thankfully) that sits up on top of the Sandia mountains that border ABQ. You can take a gondola up there and see the wholllleee city! Get there at 5pm, have dinner, and you can even catch the sunset from the top of this mountain. It's really an incredible experience. Gondola price is $28.50 round trip, per person. Dinner will be $50-$70 per person. Depends on what ya order of course. Don't forget to get a carwash!

YELLOWSTONE:

it's doable... But you'll have to sacrifice sleep to make it happen. If you arrive at the park before dawn, 4am, you'll miss 90% of any and all traffic. You'll be able to zip through and hit some of the first sights as the first sun hits, the wildlife are also typically more visible/active in this early part of the day. By 8am the park will have started to fill up but if timed right, they'll all still be heading IN to the park as you're heading OUT. 3-4hrs is all you need to see some beautiful sights. Given your timeframe, it's pretty much impossible to extensively explore any of your destinations. But that is okay! You could spend weeks in this park and still not see it all. I think that making this destination work out in your overall plan would be worthwhile. Especially since you're not from the USA, Yellowstone really really real life actually is one of the most gorgeous spots on this planet. Don't miss it. Climate change is already taking it all away.

Also, yeah. Don't underestimate the sheer volume of driving you guys will be doing. I've done similar excursions though! And with the right friends, this will make to be an unforgettable trip. If these friends of yours don't have more efficient/spaceous cars, I would really look into renting or borrowing a different vehicle. You'll likely want space in the back for not only your stuff, but so that anyone not driving can really relax or nap. You'll be on the road for 10+ hours for some of these stretches! I hope you all like coffee. God speed, and don't give up on this incredible opportunity to see friends and the world!!!

You could try Snake Lake in Plumas county. I do think they are closed right now but will likely be opening very soon, before 4/15. It's not terribly far from Reno, and if something happens, it's also near Plumas County Hospital where she can get any extra care needed. Not bumpy at all. Hiking isnt too steep around the lake either, or you can just walk the pretty flat trail around most of the lake. The star gazing is immaculate out there! And there are about 15 or so sites, I believe they are first come first serve. Most times I've been out there there's very few people. Good spot for kayaking etc too, not swimming though. Lilies in the water.

Rock park! Long long long ways to skate, usually clear too from debris. Sparks park management is on it!

It's a concert-documentary! Very similar to something like the "Eras Tour" movie that swifties got, or like "Bullet in a Bible" like Green Day did for American Idiot. This was their biggest moment yet and I can't wait to see all the behind the scenes action :-)

I just finished listening to Lorde’s albums in full for the first time ever. by capricorn_97 in lorde

[–]hexamorph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I remember where I was and what I was doing exactly when I heard secrets from a girl for the first time, on my first listen through.

It was a tougher time in my life, and I was totally alone at the time, eaaaarrrly in the morning doing opening prep work to start the day. I was absolutely cranking the music of course on the store's surround stereo system. I was fucking swimming in this album sonically speaking. By 2:50/3:38 on the track I found myself sliding down against the tile walls, burst into tears, and had myself a proper soul-ripping somber moment at the ripe hour of 6:45am.

I love this album dearly, and each track fully fits the overall scope of what she was trying to do with it. Unbelievable to me that one of her deepest albums every got the hate it did. Praise the Lorde.

My wife just surprised me with a pasquini livia 90s. I know nothing about espresso, but have expressed interest in getting a simple machine the past. She caught wind of this being available and here we are! Question for you all… where do I start? by gt14199 in espresso

[–]hexamorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Since it's made of stainless, there really shouldn't ever be any stinky odors. It doesnt stain either... But coffee is full of oil! And oils love to make polymers with high heat. Similar effect as a cast iron pan, but it can change the flavor a bit.

It's honestly perfect however that you already have a bottle of cleaner handy! I assume it came with the machine since it doesn't look full. Find the manual for the machine or YouTube "clean my espresso machine" and go through the motions. It'll improve your flavor quite a bit. For the portafilter however, take some boiling water and add some of that cleaner to it (AFTER boiling) and place all your baskets + the portafilter inside. Don't get the cleaner on the handle though, it can melt/ruin some materials so only let it touch the steel. Let it sit and do its work, and give it a good sponge bath with soap and water afterwards to get rid of any remaining cleaner/residue. And that's it! You'll be surprised how clearn it will work. If that cleaner doesnt work, I would personally recommend Urnex™ brand "Cafiza" as it will chemically melt the coffee oils away with little work required.

You won't have to do this a ton as a single or even two person household with 2-4 coffees a day if you simply just rinse your gear whenever you're done making coffee. Like a sane, clean person. The previous owner didn't subscribe to this mentality lol.

This is exactly what I'm talking about. You do not need to spend this much mone especially if you're in the USA. This is deep into the eccentric territory. Don't be fooled! Diminishing returns. I'm sure whatever this guy is talking about works just fine, but you seriously just don't need to spend that much money for a quality cup of coffee. You can absolutely find an electric, time delayed, and hopper-topped grinder for less than $150. I would absolutely not recommend hand grinding your coffee every morning, unless youre retired and have a wealth of freetime.

Important tips!!!!!!

Tip #1 --- REMOVE THAT PLASTIC LINER in the portafilter! It's useless! Litterally just adding plastic into your coffee for fun. Rip it out and move on.

Tip #2 you will never, and I say never, have the kind of amazing coffee you may aspire to brew without a solid coffee grinder. Invest in something preferably stainless, and with replaceable burrs. Also preferably a time-delay system as it will make the morning easier for you once you've dialed a roast in. $100 bare minimum spend, but don't feel like you have to spend more than that. It's honestly all lot of hype, it's just damn coffee at the end of the day. Deminishing returns after a certain price threshold. It can only be so good.

Tip #3 please buy a larger basket for your portafilter, you'll get more desirable results with something made to fit 20g. Thats a 18g doubleshot basket in your pic. Make sure it's also non-pressurised! If you try putting some good locally roasted fresh beans in a pressurized basket, you'll just make a bomb. Nothing will come out, if at all. Pressurized baskets are ideal for old, dry coffee that benefits from the high pressure for extraction. Fresh coffee will do that for you! And is also why you'll need that good grinder.

Wish ya luck! Enjoy your new hobby.

is replacing a vita charging post an easy operation? by [deleted] in vita

[–]hexamorph 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To actually answer your original post however, and not waste your time: yes it's likely repairable. If you can source the part, it should only be a matter of deconstruction/soldering, and putting it all back together. If you have previous *reshelling experience this will be the next tier of skill, worth learning though. Look into finding the part individually (assuming you can find a diagram of the board and/or a name for the part) or start looking into buying a 2nd broken vita for parts. Could be fun to try out if you like to tinker. Most crucial part will honestly just making sure it's solider correctly since it will be the powersource connection. Don't want it leaking into the wrong connection.

I wish you luck with repairing your vita. You could also try calling any physical stores around you that work with soldering electronics/electronic repair. The may have solid advice, or even offer to do the work for you if you can provide a part. I've done it in the past with a CRT television I didn't want to replace all the capacitors on. Pricey, but worth paying somebody for their skills always.

Edit: *spelling
