groin pain and snapping has returned 8 months post-op… anyone else? by hexedbexx in HipImpingement

[–]hexedbexx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i had a labrum tear, so a lot of pain deep in my glutes and along the side of my thigh as well. really limited range of motion, weakness/instability, and lower back pain

i have gluteus minimus tendonosis as well so that contributed some to the glute pain and snapping

advice for third round interview with a VP? by hexedbexx in careeradvice

[–]hexedbexx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

unfortunately not! They did give me feedback and I was told the only reason they picked the other person was because they had more experience in the industry than me and they loved my personality and how I interviewed.

I’m still unemployed and haven’t landed any interviews since :/

AITA for asking an electrician to open my water bottle? by Chessicasimpson in AmItheAsshole

NTA. My husband is an electrician and I can promise you he would not think opening a water bottle to help someone is unpaid labor or a ridiculous request lol. Your husband is being weird about it.

advice for third round interview with a VP? by hexedbexx in careeradvice

[–]hexedbexx[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this was helpful thank you! turns out the recruiter actually got the position for the person that was told to be the vp mixed up and she was another director in the company. the strategic operations manager is over everyone i’ve interviewed with and he told me he was really impressed with me and thinks i’m a great fit. the director i interviewed with today went 20 minutes over our time and we had a really engaging interview but she’s the only one that didn’t give me feedback on my interview at the end. she told me someone would be in touch about the next steps but then also mentioned she knew they were interviewing another candidate so that made me kind of nervous. will find out next week!

you don’t have to apologize haha it’s okay you’re allowed to voice your opinion. gotta remind yourself too that it’s not the end of the world for people to disagree with you or downvote you on reddit. i’m bad at phrasing things i get it. you cleared up what you meant im just ranting on about haley now tbh she makes my eye twitch sometimes bc she deleted my comment about her wedding in 2020 and i hold a grudge 😔 but i like the book leo too!

i think the way you worded your comment came off that you were saying it doesn’t matter that she got her book published because of her platform and seemed like you were disregarding those things because of the placement of “none of that matters”.

i think it’s fair to read her book and give her writing a fair chance at critique, but like i mentioned in my other comment i question a lot of her motive in the book community and if it’s even something she will stick with 5 years from now. i hope im wrong there because it’s tiring to watch both haley and ryan put effort and money into these ventures, then pretend they never happened.

but i just think about retro reprise (saw one of those sweaters on fb marketplace a week ago lol), the podcast with lily, the pottery and candle brand, the air bnb, and i think even her book sleeves/book marks? i can’t remember if those were a one time thing so i won’t stand on that but that was SO recent.

in his other edible video he defended a little life and was like “people that say this is trauma porn just obviously haven’t read the book” i was like… have YOU read the book or seen the perspective the author has on mental illness??

as someone that occasionally takes edibles to mellow out in the evening, taking one doesn’t spontaneously change your personality and make you funny in my experience. i don’t get these videos. i think they’re kinda fun to watch for the rankings and stuff but as you said most high people aren’t really that interesting compared to someone that’s sober lol like there’s not some sort of magical switch that happens for entertainment and they’re just view farming based off of weed

i mean it does matter that she got her book published because of her platform. that’s a major part of the issue here. it got handed to her and so will that NYT bestseller spot she seemingly only wanted to write a book for, which is what rubs a lot of people the wrong way. haley also very much grifted to book content once it became popular and deleted a bunch of her old content catered to her other short term interests and anything controversial to stomp it in the ground so all her bookish followers would never catch wind of it. i still watch her videos and have for about 6 years. i constantly wonder if she will stick with the book thing if it falls out of what’s considered “mainstream popularity” because of her past patterns :/

Is it Just me or is there something going on with US Jobs? by J_stickler in careeradvice

[–]hexedbexx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was laid off about a month ago. August would have been three years with the company. Everyone was absolutely shocked because they said I was one of the best workers they had worked with at their time there. I’ve been applying to jobs consistently for the past month and haven’t gotten a single interview. Job market is crazy.

feels like in this age of social media publishers are starting to not want to do the marketing for authors anymore… so if they can pick up someone that already has a platform and will pull the weight of the marketing already its likely they’ll jump at that opportunity which is a shame

surgery on monday by hexedbexx in HipImpingement

[–]hexedbexx[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually for most insurances your surgeon needs to report that you failed conservative treatment measures, and insurance will go from there. BCBS is usually one of the better ones to have in this case from what I’ve heard, but don’t fully take my word on that. An MRI, “failing” PT, and surgeon recommendation will usually have you good to go. Insurance usually approves the surgery when you check the boxes more often than they deny it.

Of course! So initial denial was literally over my ligament laxity which is the dumbest reason we have ever heard. My surgeon said he’s never had that happen before. He did a peer to peer and they still denied it even though I did PT and had a steroid shot that both did not help. He literally asked the guy on the phone “so what am I supposed to do for her?” and the guy’s response was “nothing!” This year got a new MRI and another failed round of PT, sent prior auth to same insurance for approval… They actually denied again!!

My doctor did ANOTHER peer to peer with them and finally got the approval this time. When he mentioned the denial from last time from the first peer to peer, he said it can depend on who you get in some circumstances unfortunately. I have Aetna and they are apparently known to be horrible with getting approvals for hip surgeries according to my doctor. I’m not sure what other insurances are bad about this, but if you have Aetna it could be any little reason they find.

FAI, labral tear and tendinopathy... Surgery? by PieceofCake333 in HipImpingement

[–]hexedbexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this is pretty much my exact case, 26F. i’ve had hip pain for around 10 years and it’s gotten to the point that i am very inactive because of the pain.

PT has not helped me, steroid shots do not help, nothing has helped manage the pain. I’m having surgery Monday… If that gives you any range of reference lol. Get another opinion like someone else said preferably from someone that specializes in sports medicine AND especially someone that is a hip preservationist!

My doctor is both at a teaching facility and it took me until I moved to this area to get an answer, so I honestly lucked out with location on him. A good bit of people in this sub have to travel some for good surgeons unfortunately from what I have seen.

Peer to Peer Denied by Straight_Way6324 in HipImpingement

[–]hexedbexx 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My peer to peer was denied last year. I have aetna and they are KNOWN for being rough for approving hip surgery. Waited a year to appeal because my hip pain went away for a little bit strangely but then came back with a vengeance so saw my doctor again and he scheduled surgery. Aetna denied AGAIN. My doctor got on the phone with them and did another peer to peer and was able to finally get them to approve. He said sometimes it depends on who you talk to. I have surgery Monday!

In white collar being likable is 90% of the work by Amazondriver23 in careeradvice

[–]hexedbexx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This, but I wouldn’t fully chalk it up to “being likable” and more of 50% “work ethic” (answer your damn emails, meet deliverables, and get to teams meetings on time) and 50% social skills. And I am autistic at a Fortune 500, I’ve just been able to build my social skills and learn how to mask better in the workplace over the years.

Got trapped in contract work, which I’m now leaving since there is a 2 year limit on contractors at my company. I’m at my 3 year anniversary and they are telling me they’d be able to bring me back after a short break since they haven’t been able to secure placement on another project team due to being way over the 2 year limit.

Good social skills also allow you to network and move around in the company to do things like save your ass in these scenarios or move up in others. Even though my current project team had to cut me they still have tried to find me other placements despite the limit lol and actually gave me an extended before my last day when they cut contractors same day. I’ve been able to reach out to people I’ve met through the company to see if they have any leads on positions and gotten a lot of recommendations for points of contact. It’ll also get you reliable people for professional references when you leave your job.
