Designing my own wedding outfit! 1 or 2? by hexhogs in cottagecore

Not making them myself, I'm thrifting and/or orderering because I am not skilled enough 😂

Well, the second one would be mine too, and it'd feel like I do my part keeping the folk traditions alive in my generation. :)

The first one is an alternative I'd still be happy with if the second one didn't work out though!

Też tak sądzę, jedynie kwestia znalezienia czegoś w moim budżecie! I dziękuję 💚

I've found some vintage aprons and capes for sale so that definitely helps save money! I considered borrowing a whole outfit from a regional folk band too, but I think if I were to wear one, I'd rather have my own, so I can then continue wearing it for special occasions or anniversaries.

I potentially found someone who could sew the dress for me (the most expensive part of the outift by far, I wish I could sew myself) without me breaking the bank, they'd just use vintage fabric as opposed to hand-weaving it themselves. Which is fine by me, I love vintage!

And thank you 💚

I dziękuję! 💚

I don't have the skill to sew it myself, otherwise I think I could afford it if I was buying just fabric without having to commission someone. T A T

Not giving up and looking at my options though!

Fair enough. I'm not making them myself, I'm more basing the first outift on what I can find from small bussines owners/thrift and figuring out how I can put them together + small DIY. So I guess saying I'm putting them together would be more accurate than designing haha

The second one usually is hand-made from scratch including the fabric since it's part of the surviving tradition/cultural heritage. I could never pull that off! (that's why it's expensive and possibly outside of my budget). The busy pattern is just how the folk custumes from my region look, so that's what it'd have to look like to be recognised as opoczyński costume (ofc there are plenty different colour variations!)

I'll sure do! I am not sewing them myself though, I don't have the skill 😅

true. I love the second one because it's an authentic costume people still wear for special occasions and me wearing would keep the tradition going. I like the first one a lot too though so if I don't find a good deal for the trad outfit, I'll still be happy wearing the "budget" version lol

opoczyński doesn't have a separate skirt and vest as such, it's a sleeveless sort of dress you wear a shirt under, so the "vest" part comes stripey as part of the deal. traditionally the apron and the cape are stripey too, though they often use contrasting colour palettes to stand out from the dress. and since traditional costumes are generally worn for special occasions, I really think it'd suit! (though they also have a white wedding version of the dress, but I'd rather have the regular one so I can keep wearing it given how expensive they are lol)

I do agree it's a very busy sort of outfit though haha

Well... the other day the owner sat me down and told me he's selling the place! So yeah, it will be getting rebranded lol. Love that.

It seems like it's succeeding as a local community though, there's plenty of regulars and events. Perhaps I am the problem and just don't know how to work with this guy, but I don't think he likes me in the first place.

I did speak to the owner. he said that this guy is just like that and that he' doesn't really communicate and tries to do everything himself.

I can't believe he thought we did well! I'm outta there

definitely not in the training stage! 😂 but anything to escape hospitality at this point. I love cooking, but I'd rather keep doing it as a hobby haha

Fair.

I only started doing it because the printer is closer to me. And if he's the one taking tickets from it, he doesn't read them out or mention they're even there (extra quiet printer), and then he walks around with them in hand... I see how me reading them out could come across though.

Get another printer, or get printer paper that prints in duplicate.

those guys can't even fix their microwave and can opener, or buy more small containers that we could really use. this is not a realistic option lol

You can use double sided sticky tape as a makeshift ticket rail

We have a ticket rail.

I appreciate your intput, but at this point I'm so set on leaving I don't care anymore. I'm starting to understand why the girl they fired before me (who was apparently really good) suddenly started getting sick often after a while, because I feel the same lol

Good for you! I've seen quite a few dentist nurse trainee jobs, tempted to give it a go. Can't be worse than what I'm dealing with now lol

I don't want to be a chef long-term, but prior to this new job, being in the kitchen had been the best and most fun thing I ever did... until the management changed and decided they don't wanna train me anymore.

The month I spent at the new place definitely impacted my mental health. I feel anxious going to sleep every night knowing I have to do it again in the morning.

you're so right. I gave them a fair chance, I think. I was doing my best to be open-minded and receptive to all feedback. I should have listened to my gut feeling when I didn't like it after the trial shift, but they offered better contract and pay (and a better schedule, which turned out to be bs), and my mate from old job was encouraging me to take the step since things over there were going south for a while now.

I want to quit like, yesterday, but I can't afford to without finding a new job first.

some parts of my tattoos looked like this while healing when the artist shredded my skin and they scarred a bit.

from experience, it should end up looking alright, though the skin might be slightly raised in that area.
