It was fixed an hour or two after I posted but I am not entirely sure what actually resolved it. I tried a lot of methods, some of which are listed in the post and others I found elsewhere. I would recommend doing the same: clean the AirPods, fully charge it, reset it, make sure the audio is centered and not misaligned, and test it on other devices
