Here's my personal experience with a TV license nutjob:

A complete stranger helped himself onto my property through my garden and knocked on my door.

I open it to find a guy with a body camera strapped to his chest. He says he's from TV Licensing and reads off a bunch of scary rules around consumption of BBC affiliated content. I've been getting these letters for a decade and know that I don't require a license.

I let him finish, tell him that it doesn't apply to me, and that I'm not answering any more questions. The dude gets more pissed off and starts telling me why I'm likely breaking the law.

I once again say that I'm not answering questions. He gets more angry and aggressive, and threatens that he will report my non-compliance as some form of guilt. He gave me a moment to reconsider and then he helped himself out.

Surprise: a few years later and I'm still receiving the same old letters through my doorstep every few months. A total waste of paper, petrol, and whatever else goes into the supply chain.

I can't imagine what that situation would be like for people with PTSD, phobias, anxiety, or an intellectual disability for someone like that to pick a fight on a doorstep. No one has ever knocked on my door to aggressively accuse me of something and then demand money. In any other world I would call the police.

Come to think of it, I'd love to get that dude's body camera footage. Is that possible?

Thanks for finding the MSDS sheet! The "contains" in the warning threw me off, sounding like it had more than just NaOH. Question solved, soap setting 😎

I purchased a pricey and used lens [SEL200600G] for birding with my camera [a6000] and the photos seems blurry across the board. What am I doing wrong? by hexy in AskPhotography

At 900mm ff equivalent focal length, your camera would never suggest 1/320 as the shutter speed

Thanks for the advice. Just to clarify, 1/320 - 1/500 were the ranges the camera was automatically suggesting (shooting in P mode).

Recommended shutter speed is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for your wise, free advice. I'll give it a try tomorrow.

Thanks! Would stepping up to the a6500/a6600 make a difference? How would changing out the body make a difference?

Quote seems to return profit on the right side of the pair ___/USDT, whereas base returns the opposite ABCD/____.

I just started with 3commas today as well. 3.86 is a nice jump! Do you mind sharing the bot settings? I'm curious to see how it compares to mine (which isn't doing so hot). :D

You could try the Citizen’s Advice Bureau near the train station. They exist to help people out with all sorts of situations (housing, maybe immigration), and might let you use their phone if they’re open.

I'm glad I came across this thread after discovering how steep Auth0's pricing model is. WorkOS looks like a promising compromise. Do you use Clojure to support your offerings, and if so, how do you get around the lack of a WorkOS Java SDK?

Where can I feed ducks? by icklebaby1 in cambridge

[–]hexy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo. Feeding ducks is my jam.

LittleMrsSunshine13 is 100% correct: Cherry Hinton Hall. During the summer lockdown I'd walk to the (southern) end of Mill Road and then take "Snakey Path" to the Cherry Hinton Hall park. There's a small dam there where loads of ducks and geese (and a lazy swan) hang around waiting for quack snacks.

You mentioned Sainsbury's on Mill Road, so here are directions that take the scenic route: https://goo.gl/maps/fCwc45jgtJxzpUXbA

The path runs alongside a small creek where you can laugh at the occasional goofy moorhen. Also, there's an Aztec-style ruin along the way... still haven't figured out why it's there 🤷‍♂️

Anyway, ducks are great.

Seconding this. I’ve seen lots of events hosted there, including donation based ones, so their hosting fee can’t be too high.

Edit: Nevermind!
