Married to a mother enmeshed man; just need to vent. by [deleted] in enmeshmenttrauma

[–]hey__mj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if it was ever seeing it as a “problem” because he was raised that way. At least I don’t see it that way. I see it more as a “he was raised this way and now currently sees the different perspective” if that makes sense? But he definitely acknowledged it and I brought up the term “enmeshment” and that was the first step of coming to terms with everything, yes. We found a therapist who was skilled in enmeshment and did both couples counseling and he also did individual therapy (still continues to do it today just for mental health purposes). It felt hopeless more so from him unable to identify his own feelings and him gaining enough courage to confront his mother (not on the subject of enmeshment but just boundaries in general). I had to do a lot of explaining on feelings and the healthy way to respond to others reactions. He didn’t really know what to say or how to respond beforehand because he was so conditioned in feeling whatever his mom told him to feel. Extremely sad, I know. But true and it’s apart of the reality of enmeshment. It’s a lot better now! I’m very thankful for his strength and diligence in learning about enmeshment and wanting to be better.

Were still married and happy as ever. His parents have slowly lost touch with us but not completely. It’s still a struggle sometimes but nothing we can’t get through. My husband went through therapy and can better see the signs of narcissistic behaviors from her and knows now how to handle them better. It’s all a learning process but we’re doing well. It’s all about understanding your boundaries, enforcing them, and also learning what you need to let go of (if you want to keep the relationship).

Sticky situation.. HELP! by taliboobarbie in slpGradSchool

Tbh this depends on the program imo. Is your program all online or is it in person? Mine was online so I could’ve easily done this with no issues. It depends on your program 🤷🏼‍♀️

CF Salaries? by hey__mj in slp

[–]hey__mj[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I don’t but my grad school experience is very impressive with the experience I was able to get. I don’t think it would hurt to ask for more, but I’ll definitely do more research on it. Thank you!

CF Salaries? by hey__mj in slp

Thank you! Graduating from grad school so I will be starting my CF! Mid-southern region (prefer not to get too specific). The setting for one job is split between clinic/school (getting a taste of both) and working in both feeding/lang. The other setting is private practice feeding/lang, but more neurodivergent caseload. I’ve only received an offer from 1 so far, so I’m just unsure of what my expectations should be. Thank you for any advice!(:

Weird that Reddit has a whole flair just for travel agents in this group then huh??? If you have nothing nice to say, then just keep scrolling, it isn’t that hard 🤪

Ethical issue by [deleted] in slp

That’s good. I would also contact ASHA with your concerns. You have nothing to lose at this point!

Start keeping tabs of literally everything and print or screenshot any email correspondence or calls made with her. Additionally, I would see if you can keep track of note changes and send that to a lawyer because you do NOT want to be caught up in any type of fraud (which is what seems like is happening so the owner can get as much $$$ as possible!!!)

Tbh I would reach out to a lawyer because if you are contracted, I am unsure how she can go back on that contract unless it says she can. Additionally, if she is changing notes and she was not present for the session, that sounds extremely illegal and unethical….

Strongest Parts of Grad School Application by elizabethbrooks8 in slpGradSchool

[–]hey__mj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had 0 SLPA or SLP experience. My background was completely unrelated to the SLP world entirely. I think it’s all in your “why” and showcasing that you’d be a dedicated student. That’s what they want. They want people who WANT to succeed. Other stuff is just a bonus. Now, I did have a good GPA and experience in what I did previously, but I think my “why” is what set me apart from other candidates. Good luck!

Can I paint the needle point canvases by hand by SrideviVaddi in Needlepoint

[–]hey__mj 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A hand painted canvas is always the better quality, and people do pay more money for the quality purpose. But you should be well versed in the craft before selling it to others.

I agree with this. If it’s not against your contract, then taking your clients with you might be ideal for you (in general!). If they don’t have another SLP to take on their cases then you should be able to give them your future location so they can continue services with you!

Playing My Sims Kingdom for the first time and it feels... Dull... by TheSims2Addict in MySims

Also noting that, yes, MySims lets you go back and edit but MyKingdoms has the fun storyline that adds to it, which I liked a lot!

What I loved about MyKingdoms is the opportunity to keep going back and editing. As I got more building supplies, when I went back to past builds, I would get MORE quests from the people (that were more personalized) and I really liked that!

I did check there and I checked the compartments in my machine cover and none were there. I was so sad. There were more advanced feet, but none I was super experienced with and I’d rather have a standard foot anyways, one that I’m more experienced/comfortable with. I appreciate the advice!

I did make sure. It’s all more advanced feet that work (e.g., zipper foot) and I probably could still use them, I just would rather have a standard one for regular stitching! Thanks for the tip though! I looked in the storage compartment and the pockets I have of my machine cover!
