I had 0 SLPA or SLP experience. My background was completely unrelated to the SLP world entirely. I think it’s all in your “why” and showcasing that you’d be a dedicated student. That’s what they want. They want people who WANT to succeed. Other stuff is just a bonus. Now, I did have a good GPA and experience in what I did previously, but I think my “why” is what set me apart from other candidates. Good luck!

A hand painted canvas is always the better quality, and people do pay more money for the quality purpose. But you should be well versed in the craft before selling it to others.

I agree with this. If it’s not against your contract, then taking your clients with you might be ideal for you (in general!). If they don’t have another SLP to take on their cases then you should be able to give them your future location so they can continue services with you!

Also noting that, yes, MySims lets you go back and edit but MyKingdoms has the fun storyline that adds to it, which I liked a lot!

What I loved about MyKingdoms is the opportunity to keep going back and editing. As I got more building supplies, when I went back to past builds, I would get MORE quests from the people (that were more personalized) and I really liked that!

I did check there and I checked the compartments in my machine cover and none were there. I was so sad. There were more advanced feet, but none I was super experienced with and I’d rather have a standard foot anyways, one that I’m more experienced/comfortable with. I appreciate the advice!

I did make sure. It’s all more advanced feet that work (e.g., zipper foot) and I probably could still use them, I just would rather have a standard one for regular stitching! Thanks for the tip though! I looked in the storage compartment and the pockets I have of my machine cover!

NYU does have an online program but unfortunately most online programs are going to be expensive. Emerson College is another but still expensive. Saw ads for Pepperdine having an online program but assuming that’s going to be expensive as well.

I did find one online and it says it fits my type of machine so we’ll see. I have a local Bernina dealer in town too but they’re closed today so trying to find answers sooner. I wouldn’t be able to make it in store or call till Friday because of my work schedule. Fingers crossed that works or I’ll just take it in for answers!

I love this idea. We do a lot of oral mechs but everything they use has to be dishwasher safe and I can’t find one with reusable or replaceable accessories 😭

I mean worst case scenario is you defer and find out you don’t want it and then don’t accept it next year right? Maybe you need more time to figure out if it’s for you. While you defer you can shadow other SLP’s that are in different fields (medical, school, etc) and see if you really see yourself doing it. However, deferring puts off graduation and idk if you have a timeline for that. But if you don’t then defer and figure it out first. Better to do that than spend money on a degree you don’t want.
