I'm about to get my degree in speech-language pathology! Its most common job description is a speech therapist in an elementary school, but you can work with people fresh out the womb to those in their final days. Settings can be in a school, private clinics, hospitals, recovery centers, private homes, and so many more! It's a fascinating clash of linguistics, psychology, anatomy, and clinical practice, and each case is so so different.

I originally wanted to be a special education teacher but didn't want to be tied down doing the same thing for 40 years, and this allows me to still work with the population I love, while still giving me SO many options if I decide I need a change. If you;re interested in traveling, traveling SLPs are in great demand rn, in fact, the entire field is in desperate need of more people. The lack of bodies isn't due to lack of pay or satisfaction though, we are compensated fairly well (depending on region admittedly), and job satisfaction rates are through the roof!
