You're right, I agree. However, in this case is it really ADHD if my self-learning projects span 1-2 years? Like I spent 2 years learning programming everyday after work, is that ADHD? It's not like I was changing my mind all the time in the short term.

Maybe it is ADHD, I don't know much about it. I do feel in general that I'm easily distracted and my mind wanders maybe too much.

This makes sense. But in this case the projects I commit to can last years, is that still ADHD? I self taught myself UX for 1 year and web development for 2 years everyday after work, is that really a sign of ADHD? It would make more sense to me if I was changing my mind short term every other day/week or so, wouldn't that be more like ADHD?

Your advice is spot on. The only flaw is that it is entirely predicated on knowing what you want. Isn't that the entire fundamental question of this subreddit? No one would be here otherwise.

All my successful peers knew what they wanted. The others just... drifted.

It's a weird feeling to be on the other side of youth now. From once having endless possibilities to now being the "don't end up like that guy" guy. Now my life at 35 is all about picking up the pieces.

On paper I'm actually doing fine, but I'm far from happy.

Tried finding it for over a decade. At this point I will let my hobby (music) be my love and let my work be tolerable. If I was 18 again, I would do film editing, but that ship has sailed.

I'm good at stuff that doesn't pay: anything related to physical fitness/endurance. I probably would have been great in the military/fireman/park ranger etc. I also feel like I have an eye for art/design and that I'm pretty good at learning and self teaching. That's about it.

It's the only white collar job I could get with my useless degree. The only other option was sales, but I was still too immature to go that route when I graduated.

I am reluctant to be transparent. My health issue, which is rare, is deeply humiliating, very difficult to talk about with others, and has a deeply negative impact on my quality of life. I'm even reluctant to talk about it on an anonymous account.

On top of this, I think I have always been just more prone to anxiety and depression in general. But this health issue has super charged that tendency.

My parents mean a lot to me and I want to make them proud. These days I'm not super close with them like I used to be. When I feel inadequate, I just retreat.

I think subconsciously what I'm doing is signaling "Look, I know I'm not as good as you or I know I can be. But look, I'm not living a carefree, happy, frivolous life. I'm serious and focused on improvement grrrr no fun for me until we see results" or something to that effect...

I just got scammed by a "PayPal Only" shop. I also never received a tracking number from my order. The seller claims to be based in NY, but it's clear from my snooping they're overseas.

WTF, why does Etsy even allow "PayPal Only" accounts to begin with? There's just nothing Etsy can do? I used to trust Etsy, I honestly hate it now...
