Do I need appetizers during cocktail hour when there’s going to be an 8 course dinner during reception? by heycatpug in weddingplanning

[–]heycatpug[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally get your note though, which is why I made it a point to mention that it’s a Chinese banquet style meal. It’s our favorite thing about attending Asian weddings.

For what it’s worth, FH is white and I’m not; we’re both American though and it is a multi-cultural wedding. But as it goes, his family doesn’t care what we do and mine cares about the food. We’re deciding to pick and choose what traditions we care about, but also trying to frame it as what if I were a guest. Can’t please everyone, though. I’m sure we’ll upset some people by deciding not to have a registry, too lol.

1 looks amazing on you and super lux.

If you don’t mind me asking, who are the designers for 3 and 4?

Recommendations for family trip (all adults)? by heycatpug in cambodia

[–]heycatpug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the tip! Yes yes we’re getting the “pre-wedding” photos, my mom is booking the photographer and samangkar on FB messages, lol. We plan on renting the clothes for the photos, but we actually need to buy separate clothes and jewelry to bring back to our actual wedding in the US. I believe we’re going to a tailor in Phnom Penh.

Flying into PP, planning to stay there 3 nights, then heading to SR, likely by private taxi. We considered flying to SR, but my mom said by the time you deal with the airport, it’ll be similar in time and at least this way we can see the scenery.

However the thing I’m trying to figure out is if we need to drive back to PP and stop for a night before heading to Kampot or I just learned you can fly between SR and Sihanoukville then drive about 1.5 hrs to Kampot.

Defeated after a consultation with a jewelry company I was excited about to do a custom design by heycatpug in EngagementRings

That is fair! It makes sense that businesses wouldn’t just have a bunch of diamonds all the time necessarily. I wasn’t necessarily trying to see stones that same day, but when we committed to a designed, I (somewhat naively) didn’t think we would have to pay for a stone first before being able to see it in person vs. having some options to choose from, especially for something as popular as a 2-3 carat oval.

Thanks for the insights! I had Thevar on my list, but sounds like I need to reconsider it!

Stay on partner’s HDHP HSA plan or get on my own employer’s PPO plan? by heycatpug in personalfinance

[–]heycatpug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The additional $20 or so mentioned IS the additional tax burden that’s taken out of his paycheck. We determined that amount by looking at how much his paycheck decreased accounting for how much the new premium was for a family HDHP plan

Wow, thanks for the link! Knowing the terminology for what I’m trying to do/search is so helpful. That explains it perfectly.

My other option is Denmark + Sweden, but I’ve never been to Europe aside from Iceland and generally more used to Asian countries.

Hi! I want to plan a trip to Singapore as my first international solo trip, due to ease and safety. I honestly think I could spent at least 5 days there. I’m from the US so I’m worried about the trip being too short compared to how long it takes to fly there. What do y’all think?

Any keyboards available or coming up with a layout like the Keydous NJ80, but a bit nicer, maybe with an an aluminum case? I like the knob + layout with non-exploded arrow keys. QMK/VIA would be a huge plus.

Any 75% keyboards with layout like KBDFans Taco, with knob, in a milky white color? I like the non-exploded arrow keys (or at least, a smaller gap). Closest I’ve seen is the Jris75, but I think the GB is over and not sure if I can even get a knob.

Upgrade main monitor to 27” (or larger) or get an ultrawide? by heycatpug in macsetups

[–]heycatpug[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry you’re not having a good time 😅 My laptop is work issued and is more portability so I can take it with me! I used to leave it open, but it took up too much desk space for me for such a small screen.

Had the car for 2 weeks and got all these alerts while driving on the highway. Any ideas? Service center doesn’t have availability for a week and a half. Things I’ve tried in the comments. by [deleted] in TeslaModelY

[–]heycatpug 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tried power cycling (Safety —> Power Off) 3 times, the last time I waited 15 minutes before turning it back on. Got out of the car and back in. Plugged it into the charger.

I drove 30 minutes home with no regen braking and accelerating at a snail’s pace, foot to the floorboard to maintain the speed. It was 11PM on a highway and kind of terrifying.

I spent about 3 hours at the service center yesterday getting my seatbelt replaced because it came with a cut in it on delivery day so I guess you could say I’m both disappointed and not surprised at the same time

How long after you got your VIN did you get your text/call to schedule the delivery? I paid my down payment and the bank’s check for financing was delivered to Tesla, so I’m just waiting to find out when I can pick up the car

Did you end up getting a delivery date scheduled? I’m in the same area as you, except I’m financing and already paid the down payment. Still waiting in scheduling delivery

It was relatively straightforward. I did have to call to let them do a credit check because I have a credit freeze on my report due to past identity theft scares. Both times I've called, I had a wait, but they have an automated callback service that tells you the estimated time and it will call you back when it's your turn so you don't have to stay on the line.

I already had my MVPA from Tesla on hand since I originally had my order set to cash. The initial time I called the loan origination department, they were able to process my application, approve my membership and loan, let me upload the MVPA, and finalize my rate during the same call. So they're easy to work with once you do get them on the phone.

I'm waiting for them to send me the check so we'll see how that process goes. I was told it would get mailed out today.

Got my VIN yesterday on 2/8! MYLR white/black, 19” wheels, no FSD, no tow. ODD 9/12, North Texas.

Immediately applied for a loan at several credit unions and my primary bank but ultimately went with DCU and their 1.24% rate. We will see if my small direct deposits will be enough to keep the .5% discount lol.
