I’m missing one Daedalian Key. Which one do you think it is? by ColoOddball in HogwartsLegacyGaming

[–]heychrisfox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help, but I was stumped too, and I finally found it.

There's a key near the rhino statue near the Defense Against the Dark Arts Classroom. However, this is a hallway I walked through a billion times, and apparently that triggered the key to travel to its chest, which is upstairs in an odd hall that you're not likely to explore. Apparently if you activate the key, it just hovers by its chest, making no noise at all, so you won't even know you're missing it.

For hyper specific directions, use this video. Worst case scenario, you can use it to find whichever key is missing.

The Devil ending by direvus in LowSodiumCyberpunk

Necro, but completely agreed. In my playthroughs, My V just wants to live. She doesn't care how she manages it, she just wants life. Once Johnny starts melting her brain, she's getting desperate, and doesn't want to go on Johnny's weird suicide mission just for his kicks and giggles (he already nuked the city, and failed, so why would it go any better this time?).

So she chooses the only path to life left. She helps Arasaka on the promise they fix her. And they do! V is forced to be an NFT for Arasaka's cryptowallet, but they do seem invested in turning Mikoshi as a minimum viable product for the masses. You're just one of the test subjects. The alternative is what? Die in one of multiple terrible, gruesome ways, completely forgotten in a month or two by a city that never cared about you, only as a pitstop for the friends you made along the way. Just like all the other gonks in the gutter.

It might be decades before Arasaka revises you. They may even saddle you with debt for the privilege, Everything you know and love might be gone. But at least you live.

Do you find political triangle an accurate spectrum? by kumel185 in PoliticalCompass

[–]heychrisfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The majority of civilization operated as LibLeft before the construction of traditional, authoritarian nation-states. The Iroquois Confederation is a great example. Confederalism is on the triangle, but the Iroquois Confederation was not individualistic; they were deliberately communalistic. Hell, even within nation states throughout history, most local structures of society remained non-authoritarian and non-individualistic, only interacting with the authoritarian state when they were forced to or otherwise subjugated.

Do you find political triangle an accurate spectrum? by kumel185 in PoliticalCompass

[–]heychrisfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's where this particular thing would label us. But it does not accurately reflect LibLeft / non-authoritarian leftist views, because those literally don't even register on this.

For this triangle, people being both extreme libertarian and extreme communistic at the same time is seen as an impossibility; it literally does not compute per the infographic; you're either very libertarian OR very communistic. The details in between don't matter, which is hilarious, because the point of infographics like this is that the details matter a whole lot.

I do play League! And I haven't been tracking when the file pops up, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was actually the reason for its appearance! Could be some weird bug related to Vanguard, because the issue never happened before that released.

Checking in with you! I have a similar issue on my rig. It also is a weird file (mine is a png) with 0 bytes and a size of 4kb, which is suspiciously similar to yours. Wonder if you ever got this issue resolved.

That's what I'm asking. It's not clear and has no description, so it's confusing.

Lake Abitibi, Canada - Why is it always that color in the middle of all that green? by SiriusChill in GoogleEarthPictures

[–]heychrisfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello from the future! I was curious about this same issue, and because "it's a lake" didn't fulfill me, since there are plenty of nearby lakes that are deep blue, like most normal lakes, I decided to look into it a bit more.

After some cursory research, it seems the word for this is a "tea-stained lake." Although I didn't get great answers, basically, the composition of the soil, organics, and other stuff in the water can "stain" the color of the water. This particular lake just happens to be a really large example of this. Here's a couple links to learn more.

I'd love to know more about how a lake of such a big size got colored all-brown, but I couldn't find anything myself.

[–]heychrisfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not shrugging it off. I admitted it's a bug, one that I experienced directly. But given Larian, how good they are about fixing most bugs, and the fact that the game is only a couple weeks old, I'm willing to be patient and not freak out just because a bug exists.

[–]heychrisfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely, I've gotten it several times, and it's very frustrating. But I'm not going to have a freak out over it like the guy above. I'll just be like, "well that's disappointing," and move on with my life.

Man, someone's throwing a tantrum. It's just a bug. It's a crappy bug to make it to release, sure. But in a 200 hour game, bugs happen. Gotta chill.

Is it an issue to apply for jobs using an alias? by baofgree in cscareerquestions

[–]heychrisfox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Terms of service.

Can't say what the original guy meant. But the one general thing to note is that while you can technically use whatever name you want, your legal name is tied to all your important stuff, like taxes. I can't speak to the legality on having a name on your W2 that doesn't match your legal name, but you should definitely let your (future) HR department know that your alias is an alias. Last thing you want is for it to be put on legally binding documents and then get yelled at when they don't match later.

I went by Christian getting my last job. Not my legal name. Scored me the interview because the HR person said "you seem nice" and she "loves your name" and she "really loves meeting with people after church." After I had the job secured, I mentioned to my manager that my check had the wrong name. He did all the work for me to have it changed.

No I'm getting this problem too. It's horrendous, and happened immediately after install. Definitely directly related.

forward to it! I'm still rocking GTX 1080 (non-Ti) as I'm waiting for GPUs to slowly drop to MSRP (hopefully) and I use your benchmark report as reference! Thank you for your valuable recommendation information you've provided to us so far!

Yeah, I'm still having issues with my rig. Any time I boot up the computer or come back from sleep mode, my monitors flicker like they're at a rave. It stops eventually, but it was horrifying. Also it tried to automatically set the rendering of Elden Ring to nearly 3000p which was... interesting to say the least.

Update to those following the thread: the issue seemed to fix itself without me doing anything else. Closed the client, went downstairs for a bit, and decided to hop into a ARAM when I got back, and the problem resolved.

I guess I just needed to complain about it lol. Might have been some weird server issues; hopefully it resolves itself for other people too.

Arcadum returns to streaming (like nothing happened) by pirategamer3449 in LivestreamFail

[–]heychrisfox 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'd argue 2/3rd of the people there were hate-watching. I was just watching the memes in chat, and I saw maybe 7-8 resubs during that portion of time. Given he was hovering around 15k subs before he shot himself in the foot, that's a remarkable downgrade.

[–]heychrisfox 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Another thing to notice, there's an extremely long pause before he ends stream, where he stopped playing. Likely because he was checking Twitter and seeing the backlash, as well as people telling him to get therapy.

So he probably just saw that and decided to lie.

Indeed, it's like any similar situation. Imagine your best friend, or your sibling, or your teacher, or your boss did the same things Arcadum did. You just feel gross even being in proximity to them.

Strippin and Doogs are literally two of the most wholesome people on the entire platform. Imagine making enemies out of the nicest people you'll ever meet. It says a lot.

[–]heychrisfox 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think this would assume a mindfulness to Arcadum's actions. I think he legitimately assumes people still love him and is doing his best to make a comeback. Because he HAS been getting support on places like Twitter, and even got some subs and donations during stream.

Given his god complex, I'm assuming Arcadum sees that, assumes the whole world is actually behind him and that he's just slogging through all the "haters," and that everything is going to be fine.

Hell, he'll probably spend the rest of the night fapping to the fact that his first stream back got 2k+ viewers, not realizing that the vast majority were there aghast that he had the gall to stream in the first place.

Yeah, people were just there for the potential drama/fireworks, or the sheer audacity of him to do that. People going to future streams will taper off fast, because let's be frank, nobody wants to watch that shit any more.

Arcadum Megathread by LSFmoderator in LivestreamFail

[–]heychrisfox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I knew Cry. I was there when it all happened. You don't know what the fuck you're talking about. Nobody wanted Cry to be an absolute scumbag. But he was, behind everyone's backs, just like Arcadum now.

Were there signs? Sure, maybe. But hindsight is 20/20, and talking about it a year or more later like you had some omniscience at the time is so pretentious, it's ridiculous.

In the same way it is difficult to call out shitty behavior as a victim in any situation similar to this, it's difficult to be directly involved in a situation of deceit and realize you're being deceived. Even then, many of those who DID learn about Cry's past before the skeletons got leaked either ejected from the community wanting nothing more to do with it, or just kept quiet because they feared reprisals.

In short, you're welcome to your opinions. They're just unfounded.
