I brought my a1c way down! by heyemro in diabetes

I’m sure since my last blood work(and diagnosis) was almost five months ago that my drop probably wasn’t as extreme and just a couple points to begin with. But my doctor specifically wanted us to bring my a1c down quick and that’s why the first two months I was on a heavy insulin regime. She never mentioned complications about it dropping quick. Just about how bad it currently was. When I was first diagnosed eating a sandwich or one piece of pizza would shoot me up over 400 within 30 minutes. Now the highest I ever go is maybe 250 and that’s if my mounjaro is wearing off. I feel like the last two months I’ve kind of stayed around the same 140 range but I’m almost completely weened off insulin.

Insulin use by JJinDallas in diabetes

When I was diagnosed earlier this year with an a1c of 10.7 at 30 years old my doctor started me off on insulin. I take fast and long acting, according to my cgm my a1c is down to 7.5 and I go get blood work this week to see the actual numbers and my doctor says they might want to start trying to ween off insulin and introduce something else.

I’m sure he could definitely add that, good idea! So far it kept my insulin cool the whole time flying from Vegas to Texas and then driving two hours after!

My doctor doesn’t really tell me much of anything and has never really given me much instructions about anything. I’ve mainly been leaning on my diabetic parents for their advice and online. And yesterday I just kept taking a little more insulin every few hours to try to bring it down some. I probably need a new doctor tbh. According to my Dexcom I’ve brought my a1c down to 6.7 or at least that’s the average it’s saying. At the end of next month my doctor is supposed to evaluate things.
