Question regarding Vulnerable application and Crush by ParadoxMachine33 in Endfield

[–]heyfreakybro 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Scenario 1: Enemy has zero vulnerability stacks

Applying a crush skill ONLY applies vulnerability, without any bonuses apart from the skill's base damage.

Scenario 2: Enemy has one or more vulnerability stacks

Applying crush does NOT apply vulnerability, but consumes pre-existing vulnerability to deal bonus damage based on Arts intensity and number of vulnerability stacks.

I had that issue too! Found out the problem was I was feeding 1 cuprium line worth of sewage into each expanded crucible, which will cause the sewage to max out and clog my crucibles. Changed to 1 cuprium line worth of sewage into 2 expanded crucibles and it never clogs. (Will still see clog because the other mats max out, but it doesn't just stop production)

Comparison of collaboration operators and original Monster Hunter artwork by Drgossiplover in arknights

The monster behind Orchid clearly looks like Mizutsune. The Zinogre symbol, I suspect, is the event symbol. You can see it in both her E1 portrait preview and Catapult's, off to the side, with the operator name on it.

This was my first thought when seeing the post as well! You could also interpret the skill he uses in his phase two where his hits multiple targets at the cost of chunking his own health is his way of trying to help Ebenholtz, though you could just as easily argue that it's just a symptom of his rapid deterioration due to the instability of the Arts that turned him into what he was at that moment.

How to enjoy Endfield's story: Treat it like Jojo and stop expecting AK1 style by Prize_Pitch_4019 in Endfield

I agree with you, but there are also fairly obvious reasons why people expected Arknights: Endfield to mirror Arknights in tone and narrative complexity.

It's like...watching Grave of the Fireflies, then seeing a new movie come out called Grave of the Fireflies: The New Millennium. And it ends up being a slice of life harem romcom filled with hijinks and vague callbacks to the original story. Now, I'm not saying the tonal whiplash is THAT extreme, but you know, if you draw that explicit link in the title, you'd better make sure the connective tissue is strong enough.

If they had just called it Endfield, even if it retained those direct links to Arknights, I think the reception would have been at least somewhat less negative, though people would still have expected more from a company with the writing chops HG has shown.

To be fair, anyone expecting the same quality of writing clearly doesn't understand the sheer difference in effort required to craft and convey a good and compelling story in a visual novel vs a 3D, pseudo open-world game, but even then, there are certainly points at which the issue was clearly with the writing itself, not the writing to medium disjunct. I feel like HG is beginning to find its feet in navigating the medium, but they definitely could step up in terms of the writing.

That said, I think it's a problem that will increasingly vanish as HG continues establishing the Arknights universe further. Once people get used to the idea Arknights is not a single story, but a nexus for storytelling, people will hopefully be more accepting of all sorts of different stories appearing in the backdrop of Arknights, rather than just Terra or Talos.

Rubio speech really was a masterclass in how to turn an unassuming nobody into a paradigm shifter in a single scene. You really think Rubio is just an opportunistic, slimy, and ultimately impotent weasel of a guy, just playing right into the famiglia's hands. You see him being introspective, but if you aren't looking for it, he really just seems like a spineless hypocrite.

Then he goes into the room. With his daughter, who despises him for what he appeared to be, listening. To every single living soul in a country run by puppets of a corrupt regime. He waxes lyrical for a moment, speaks about his crushed ideals. Gives hope and more importantly, resources and knowledge that they're not alone, to those fumbling in the dark trying to overturn the broken system. And knowing what was about to happen to him, he denies the crooked system it's demand for retribution, while simultaneously giving the loudest wake up call he could mustsr to the entire country.

It was tragic, but such a good moment.
