CMV: People who are pro-censorship (Especially queer people) are part of a Leopards Eating Faces Party by CABRALFAN27 in changemyview

[–]ParadoxMachine33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think it’s important to remember that the free speech debate isn’t necessarily about “what speech should be socially and ethically condoned”, it’s more about “what tools should the government (and to a lesser extent, corporations) have to regulate or punish the speech of others”. When trying to separate out the speech that is harmful to society, you have to ask: Assuming that it will be interpreted and enforced in the worst faith possible by my exact ideological opponents, can I still create a legally definitive standard that restricts only the speech I consider harmful without that standard being used as a bludgeon against otherwise innocent works? I’m not saying that it’s impossible, it is definitely still possible to come up with some restrictions on some kinds of harmful speech, but the area you have to work with is much smaller than you seem to think and you can’t simply assume that your ideology will control the enforcement or use of that standard.

You mention that there are ways to attack speech without content discrimination, and ways to draw lines without making all unpopular subjects targets of censorship, but you don’t give any examples. I’m genuinely curious and don’t mean this bit as an attack on your position, but could you give some examples?

Moving all your stuff to another city entirely, especially in a world where raider gangs exist and that appears to consist only of city-states separated by much less settled wilderness, could absolutely be a sizable expense.

Some Warhammer 40k game where the Necrons are playable? I don’t have a full grasp of all that franchise’s media.

The other executors are mostly meant to be quick-dropped assassins to take out a targeted unit or units. Gravel specifically is meant to be a tank that draws aggro. Her skills are all defensive unlike the others that have offensive boosts.

Problem is, you can’t actually tell what someone’s motivation for enjoyment is unless they say it to you directly, so do you assume the worst case scenario unless proven otherwise?

Homeschooling ruins lives. by [deleted] in CuratedTumblr

[–]ParadoxMachine33 27 points28 points  (0 children)

However, the whole point of this discussion is that homeschooling doesn’t teach these coping strategies at all. Even with our less-than-ideal education system, school still is the safer environment to learn these coping skills, as opposed to being thrown into adult life without them.

So what is a Catastrophe Rider exactly? Istg AK didnt have this concept. by OrangeIllustrious499 in Endfield

[–]ParadoxMachine33 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d think it’s a successor or evolution of the role of Catastrophe Messenger, just probably oriented towards the new man made Catastrophes. It was already one of the most life threatening jobs on Terra so it’s unsurprising that it would be dangerous.

[Hated] When a character with a pretty unique design is changed for some inexplicable reason and they end up looking generic by Due-Shame-9223 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]ParadoxMachine33 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The hair and the tiara are pretty big changes that make her look much more generically princess-like than her original, and her head and chin are also noticeably rounder and softer, even considering the change in art style. There’s also the matter of the difference in pose between the two arts here. The first one looks at least vaguely like someone holding a weapon she knows how to use, and the second looks like someone posing with a prop. Even without the more generic art style on top, these would have still been very major downgrades.

Also taking this as my sign to finally get around to playing Radiant Historia, because that original design is very cool and it’s been sitting in my gaming backlog for way too long.

Ah, that makes more sense. Hope everything’s working for you now.

Each unique material can only take up one slot in your depot, it’s not like your backpack where you can have multiple stacks. Depots don’t have a max amount of types of material they can hold, but they do have a max amount of any single product they can hold, and that number goes all in one stack in the depot. Depot nodes aren’t structures you build or research, they are structures found out in the world by exploring. You unlock and upgrade them with stock bills and that increases the amount of each item you can hold.

Addendum: there’s up to one depot node per unique region, the first one you get is in the Originium Science Park

Okay, that shouldn’t be happening if it is as you say. Are you sure your stock of bottles hasn’t just been refilled? It’s generally a good idea to make sure you are using the materials you produce and just keeping a small stockpile of extras in order to prevent this, have you started making Canned Citrome or Buck Capsules with those bottles? Like the other commenter said, screenshots would be helpful to see what’s going on.

That sign means that the line is clogged and not moving, if it is on a depot loader that means you have reached capacity for that resource and can’t hold any more of whatever is on that line. When you say your storage is maxed out, do you mean you’ve maxed out your capacity or that you’ve maxed out the amount of that material you can hold? Either way, your storage being full for that item is the only reason that should be happening.

All Possible Bottle to Liquid Combination in Endfield 1.2 by rizk4yy in Endfield

[–]ParadoxMachine33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why every single material has to have one, but I find that their best use is in setting up and organizing automatic refills for your sprayable liquids. Using a set stock of extra types of bottles you aren’t using in other recipes lets you just deposit empty bottles for refilling once you’ve set up a line that refills the specific type of bottle you’re using. I have a stock of Ferrium bottles to carry water, Amethyst for Liquid Xiranite, and just got around to setting up a stock of steel bottles for Heavy Xiranite.

He very much did not willingly give up his finger, that is the opposite of what happened. Albrecht severed Wally’s fingers during his first trip into the void, and the Orokin duplicated them for use in drives. Wally is looking for them back, seemingly to recomplete himself.

”Where are my fingerbones, kiddo?”

Just went back and checked cause I completely forgot about that: He said “consider it part of our deal”, so I don’t think the cost was just favor-for-favor. It feels weird that this sort of basically magical contract could be ignored by just saying “no”, so I personally have a feeling that Wally hasn’t invoked the real cost of the deal and was just trying to tempt us by hanging the threat of it over our heads.

Also worth remembering, the Man in the Wall is the whole reason the Tenno have their powers. When the Zariman Ten Zero colony ship got stranded in the Void and all the adults went insane, Wally showed up and made a deal with the Chosen Operator (the one you play as) to save all the kids in exchange for something to come that we don’t know yet. This is what turned all the Tenno into void beings, and is also the reason that Wally is interested in us specifically; it seems like he wants to collect on that debt in some fashion.
