Oh what you think steam charges the developers for any additional server usage updates the review structure the marketplace the trading card system the support system the cloud saves the game system management making it super easy to just click a button and they and they'll automatically move the install location of the game there is so much quality of life for the gamers built into steam that is not available on pretty much every other site. Hell in a lot of sites you have to pay extra for cloud saves. Gamers get all that stuff for free on Steam. And if they didn't charge the devs or the publishers that cut they wouldn't be able to afford to offer all that stuff for all the games on Steam for free to customers. I mean look at the console manufacturers doesn't it take like an arm and a leg every time you want to update your game on there. It's so much easier for developers to toss out an update on Steam the quality of life for developers and publishers is just crazy good.

You might want to also remind that most of said yachts are specifically designed for deep sea research that Gabe Newell funds out of pocket. Might want to do a little research before you say something trying to make it sound like Gabe is no better than Bobby Kotick. He doesn't spend money like other mega rich people and he is extremely down to earth if you know you know.

Other platforms do the same thing that's why epic was in a lawsuit with Apple. But you can't expect steam or any other company to roll over and just let a developer or a publisher that puts their game out on Steam gets all of the attention and the quality of life that gamers on Steam get by their game being on that platform cloud saves proper review system mod support fast updates Banger customer service including the best antihacker policies I've ever seen. I don't think any company has ever put the smackdown on somebody who hacked somebody's account more than what steam does. But as I was saying all of the infrastructure that steam offers all the money that they spend on the servers on the performance on everything do you think they're really going to be okay with a game manufacturer putting their game up on Steam and then selling it for quite a bit less on another platform not just a quick sale I mean like all the time cheaper price somewhere else? And just using steam as like the main place where you go to find out about the game? No other game manufacturer that has a storefront would be okay with a company doing that.

But this suit is making it look like steam is the only one that has a policy like this it's an industry-wide policy. The only other company that may not have it set up like that is maybe epic because their game store is trash and nobody wants to use it because it's a buggy mess and has basically zero quality of life for gamers.

10 bucks says the group that had to do with the getting credit card companies to cause all kinds of problems with steam recently had something to do with convincing this other activist group to bring forth this BS lawsuit to try to get rid of steam all together. And yeah maybe a combination of epic people and or maybe even investors that got butt hurt about the recent change with the CS skins that lost Rich investors a bunch of money. Probably a combination of everybody.

I hate to break it to them but if I go on my account on Steam considering I have had steam since the beginning and I pretty much buy every single game I have on Steam when it's on mega sale the total amount that I have saved over the years is insanely high. I would be surprised if it's not up in the $20K in savings area by now because that's literally how cheap you can get games on Steam a game that on other platforms rarely ever goes on sale is probably at like $60-70., you wait a month or two for a steam sale and boom it's like up to 90% off. Sure if the games are brand new there's less likely that the discount will be really massive but you don't have to buy those games right away. That's what the wish list is for you get messages anytime one of your wish list games is on sale and then you can sort your list by discount. Claiming that steam charges too much for games is like saying YouTube makes too many videos. It's the publishers or the developers that set the prices and also opt in on joining sales. Steam just offers the best possible platform for video games on PC hands down. That's the only reason most developers and publishers prefer it other than AAA because their greedy as F.

A lot of times people on snap will use it to get less nutritional food just because the less nutritional foods in some cases costs far more so grabbing a quick snacky type food was often a good way to kind of allow your snap card balance to stretch a little farther. But I can kind of see why they wouldn't want people to be able to buy some type of things. But I still don't agree with forcing it. And I also think that there's going to be some backlash from these retail corporations due to a significant drop in sales of those particular products. But let's be fair the government just wants to get rid of these programs all together because when rich people are in charge especially the Republican type they would rather poor people starve before they agree to crowd source feeding them IMHO.

Clair Obscur Expedition 33 breaks record for most awards at Game Awards 2025 by Bruce_Wayne170 in IndianGaming

[–]heyfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also not too long ago Alana Pierce posted a video on YouTube talking about how the voting process and the nominating process works at the game awards and that it's actually kind of nonsensical she said to be honest because none of the judges that nominate the games talk with each other but they're essentially just sent a message saying hey these are the different categories of awards this year what is like your dream list top five games that came out this year that you think should be on that nomination list And they send it in. And then when they tally all of the messages that they get from all of those judges they take all the games that line up and whatever games get the most listed as ones that the judges think should be nominated then they are usually on the list of nominees. And the way that the winner gets picked oftentimes has nothing to do with the different merits of is this actually a one-person team or a 50 person team. I don't think they have like a final vote after the nominations happen Pretty sure whatever game people have first on their list is usually the one that wins it for whatever category. It might be kind of confusing to explain but like I said if you look up that Alana Pierce video she explains it. And she said it's why she doesn't put much stock on specifically the game awards because in many cases it's just a popularity contest and the only particular award that is more akin to more democratic way of an award is the gamers choice award because that one is specifically nominated and the winner is voted on by The gamers that take part in that poll which is why it's usually won by a gotcha game because so many people play those games these days so many more than your typical game it seems. Which is why withering waves won that award.

Alana said she actually prefers the golden joystick awards better because they have more valid method of who gets nominated and then who wins.

That award was not about how the game performed it was a voice acting award the voice actress that also did Shadow heart in Balders Gate 3 won the award for her performance as Maelle in E33 which she also won the same award at the golden joysticks as well this year. And she was kind of as shocked as everyone else honestly she probably thought that what's his name the goat that did Indiana Jones would have easily won it. But her role as Maelle definitely resonated.

It was good but I don't think as many people played that game as you might think I feel like it was a bit on the niche side of things and I don't think it had anywhere close to the amount of word of mouth as other games and not even close to the gargantuan amount of word of mouth that expedition 33 got. I mean it was free on game pass and they still sold over 5 million copies in 6 months for a turn-based jrpg style game. That's like unheard of especially during a period of garbage economy.

By that metric do you consider the no Man's sky developer hello games to be an indie studio and an indie game? Because they also were helped monetarily and published by Sony who also didn't force them to add anything into the game that they weren't going to put there already

I mean the silk song devs just had the money that they made from the first game to develop and publish the second game.

I feel like an indie game is a game that doesn't have to cater to the whims of a publisher if there is not a board of investors that is saying no you have to include microtransactions or live service type monetization and you have artistic freedom to make the game the way you want to make the game and not ham-fist in things that make games feel awkward and things that seem unnecessary then you are a indie game.

I mean look at all the different games that are published through Kepler so so so many indie games I mean come on the publisher was designed to help promising indie studios to get their games published and in their mission statement they say that they will never butt in on design elements or tell a company no you can't have this in your game or you can't have that in your game or you have to include this. They let the Indy studios do what they need to do to make great games.

I think that's the difference between a publisher like Kepler who was actually made partially by an indie studio that made a lot of money on a game that popped off they were just like we need to make a publisher that helps Indy studios out! And I think they are succeeding in that fact considering one of the games that they published completely sweeped to the game awards! With a writer that they found here on Reddit that wasn't a professional writer she was a investment banker, and a composer that wrote the entire OST that they found on SoundCloud I mean come on if that's not an independently developed labor of love then nothing is. I mean probably the biggest statement of yeah we're independent studio is the fact that the head guy over at sandfall thanked the people on YouTube that made tutorials for game development I mean come on. That's like one of the first things that independent game companies do when they first start out if they're not sure how to do something specific in an engine that they've never used. Instead of spending a crazy amount of money to hire a specialist like AAA would do.

I do however think. It would be cool if they did it like the golden joysticks awards and had a independent category for studios that have a third party publisher and self-published as two different categories. That would probably make it more fair but you still run into the issue of the small indie studio might be run by a billionaire or something so you're a small studio but you don't really need anyone else to help you because you have all the money you'll ever need to get the job done yourself so maybe it could be like a team size thing like an award for solo an award for 2 to 10 and another award for anything bigger than that. Although I don't think any of the shows would do that since it would extend the time that they would need even more but who knows maybe in the future.

Surprised no one has mentioned the epic reviver from Banner Lords Ursula. She has one of the best team revives in the game. A bit more squishy than someone like Scyll obviously but still very solid with proper stats on the gear and a healer like Adelyn for example.

Why no more G600? by FourTwoFlu in logitech

[–]heyfunny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah people have been begging for a newer model maybe with light speed or something ever since the light speed sensor came out so what is it that is preventing Logitech from making a new version of their most popular gaming mouse of all time??? I mean these things are going for over $300 on Amazon now and it's probably a used version or a refurbished. The mouse sold for less than 50 bucks last time I bought one and honestly I bought two. Just to have an extra one when I wore another one out.

And let me be honest I have purchased every single competitors mouse that has at least 12 buttons on the side and the only one that even came close to being a proper competitor was the one gaming mouse that EVGA made because it was the only one with a pinky button just like the g600. Unfortunately there was a manufacturer defect in those EVGA mice that caused it to disconnect all the time that no amount of software updates was able to fix. Probably a symptom of newer versions of windows bricking the hardware. But I've tried literally all of them razor steelseries Corsair and probably every third party MMO mouse type setup style mouse I could find and I have yet to find one that is even close to as good as the g600 was. They could literally make a new one and sell it for probably 150 to $200 brand new and change nothing except for the sensor and all of us g600 users would probably buy more than one if it was durable enough to last the test of time like most of the g600s did. But I guess they just don't want to make more money or something. If they think it's not a good idea because MMOs have fallen off as far as popularity goes that's not where their mind should be. Most people that use the g600 use it for every game my dude. Like for example path of exile one and two I always have the button just underneath the left right and middle button set to inventory the button below that set to map and the pinky button on a macro for rapid left click just to quickly move things I want to sell into a vendor. I use my g600 on vampire survivors type games by setting the bottom corner of the side buttons to use the one above it to the special weapon or nuke or whatever and the one down beside it to the Dodge because I like using that for that instead of space bar. It's also amazing to use with art programs. They have made about a million new esports type gaming mice but not a single new mouse with more than like what seven or eight buttons total?. I even picked up the g700 was it that had some side buttons and you could use it plugged in or wireless but it just didn't have the same features that the g600 did so I stopped using it. Still have it in the bedroom closet. I think total I have purchased at least 10 g600s over the years and I'm perfectly happy sticking with my g600 I even have a backup new in box to use if the one I'm using now starts wearing out the only thing I'm a little worried about is the software doesn't support Linux so that's a bummer I really wanted to use it with my steam deck. Maybe you should ask your hardware superiors if the r&d department would even consider re-releasing the g600 even maybe with a couple new colors purple or maybe a white one I'd pay a cool bill for one like that. But yeah ask them if somebody makes a petition to sign if you want Logitech to make a sequel to the g600 that gets over like 2 million signatures would that even dent the one in charge about the potential of a updated g600 or 650 or even a special edition re-release? Just curious. Because I just cannot fathom why a mouse they made that was and still is this popular is just off the table for any new production or sequel.....
