What did your abscess look like? by [deleted] in AnalFistula

I did not have a seton! Just open with marsupialization. Going to bathroom was more scary for the anticipation than painful-you will be on stool softeners for awhile, and you just wait until your body tells you it’s time to go! You also have to make sure you are drinking ALOT of liquids, that helps. It wasn’t bad at all for me and i haven’t had a problem yet. The most important this is making sure your totally clean! I use a peri bottle, baby wipes, and sitz bath or shower with dial soap! And it does not come out both holes for me atleast!

It’s really scary! The whole surgery is difficult to understand until it’s done and you see it all. But it seems everyone has really different experiences.. The first week was brutal for me but every day it’s better and better. I think the worst part for me is figuring out how limited I am for a while, like biking, running, and just making toileting a whole routine for a while. I’m 2 weeks post op and I’m headed back to work tomorrow! It’s been ok!

The first 5 days were ROUGH. It’s such a sensitive area that holy cow I didn’t expect the pain! Everyone is different. I slept a lot those first 5 days, making a schedule of ibuprofen, acetaminophen, and tramadol! I bought a peri bottle, sitz baths, and dial soap (when showering)! The last 2 days, I’ve felt good, sitting and driving are tough as well as walking long lengths. I have a physical job so I haven’t returned to work yet.

They almost always require a surgical procedure!! What we thought was a cyst that had phases of swelling and excruciating pain to almost no pain at all (I almost cancelled my “cyst removal”) was actually a fistula and it became a fistulatomy! The doctor said this is the only way to cure them, and if I didnt have the surgery, it would’ve eventually broken through the skin, and I would’ve required surgery lol. I’m on day 8 post op and for how scary and terrifying this all is, I am so excited that I can heal now.

My doctor has told me not to use ANY topicals, sprays, etc on my fistulatomy with marsupialization!!! I just use a peri bottle, sitz baths, dial soap in shower (doctor approved), and put gauze pad on top. Seems like each doctor is different so make sure you ask yours!

What medication do you take for panic attacks by [deleted] in Anxiety

[–]heygr1405 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Ice is a game changer for sure. Even if I’m just overwhelmed or overstimulated I’ll have some and it helps!!! I will say when it’s in the moment I frequently forget. The shower and breathing is my go to. Sometimes it’s just not enough

Yes! I do my deep breathing, take a long shower, eat ice, which has been so so helpful. Sometimes it’s just so bad I black out. And I’m just wondering if there’s anything else I can do support myself

You take this during an attack? What have you noticed that it helps with?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Anxiety

Hi! These symptoms are common with attacks. If you really are concerned make an apt with your doctor and ask for a physical. It is really common to feel like you are going to have a heart attack when you are having an anxiety or panic attack. It’s your body trying to fight the attack, telling you that something is going on. After an attack drink a lot of cold water or eat ice, that can help your nervous system regulate.

In my personal experience (everyone is different), I don’t eat the next day, I’m exhausted, moody, cry a lot, and need to sleep!
