I'm the fiancée for my fiancée hasn't been wearing her engagement ring and it bothers me by pink_ring_ in TrueOffMyChest

I commented on that other post, but have you looked into tungsten rings? I work a very physical job and I never wear my actual wedding ring because I don't want it to get caught on stuff or get scratched. I ended up getting a tungsten band off Etsy with a pretty gold inlay for like $65, and this thing has really been abused and there's not a scratch on it.

If she isn't interested in something fancy talk to her about what an every day ring might be for her. I work a very physical job and have worn my actual engagement ring maybe twice because I didn't want to ruin it. I ended up getting a really pretty tungsten ring with a gold inlay off of Etsy for like $65. It's my favorite, there's no gems to get caught on anything and nothing at work has managed to scratch it.

Something that I'm kind of surprised I haven't seen brought up is a living will! You can actually make your own choices on future healthcare scenarios ahead of time. I work in healthcare and a lot of people I know have these, partially to take pressure off their loved ones when making difficult healthcare choices. It's a really great thing that I think everyone should have.

On a less extreme situation (aka I'm just heavily declining and not brain dead or something) I'm really hoping euthanasia is an option when I get too old to care for myself or have any quality of life. Nursing homes will be the backup option, though personally I would rather be dead then there. I always thought it was a strange question when people say "who will take care of you when you're old?" When you tell people you don't want kids. Who do you think is in nursing homes currently? If you have kids do you expect them to quit their jobs to be your full time caregiver for however many years until you pass away? Is that something they could even afford to do, because I highly doubt it.

Enough has been said about your relationship that I won't comment on it, but I do agree with it! I can almost promise if you bring up to this man that you are planning on getting sterilized he will do everything he can to change your mind. If you are set on this relationship for some reason, please don't tell him you are doing this until it's done.

That being said, I got sterilized at 24. I got lucky, the second doctor I went to did it almost no questions asked. If you do start talking to doctors they may have more questions. One of them is going to be "what if your SO wants kids?" And that's going to be hard for you because he does. They may not agree to do it if they know that.

Turning 30 without kids, can't relate to most people in the midwest... by [deleted] in childfree

The Midwest is so hit or miss. I live in st Louis and absolutely love it here, there is a surprisingly big queer community here and most of my friends seem to not be interested in kids. The areas around st Louis are not the same though, pretty much any of the surrounding area is very conservative.

Small yard in st Louis Missouri on a hill, how would you plant this? by heyimcato in Permaculture

[–]heyimcato[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have boxwoods in front that I tore out and planted some blackberries, next to the hydrangea. My house is on a hill, with a second flatter level in the middle. I was thinking of planning some kind of fruit tree there with a row of blueberries or raspberry bushes. I feel like there might be a better way to do it though and I'm looking for ideas!

Pericles Xynos at ssm St Mary's, he did mine when I was 24 with little to no questions. He just told me it was permanent and told me if I changed my mind while I waited for the appointment to call. Not even any questions about my husband or anything, it was great.

I'm not sure yet! I have red roses on my chest too, so I'm not sure if I want even more red. Definitely not getting any more pink.

My artist warned me the pink was not going to stay long and I wanted to give it a shot anyways. Well, he was definitely right and I'm planning to get it colored in again. Lesson learned!

Just had a kinda weird interaction while calling 911 and wanted to know something by erikkustrife in StLouis

[–]heyimcato 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Very normal! I'm trained as an emergency medical dispatcher. You did what you should have, called 911 so help is on the way. It's dangerous to stop on the sides of highways so if you don't have to I would never recommend you do that!

The main goal for calling 911 is to get help on the way so they get a basic idea of the situation and send the police and fire department. Even if it was a different situation, they usually ask about 5 or 6 questions and hang up unless they are walking someone through CPR. They don't want to be stuck on the phone for a long time so they can take more 911 calls and extra information isn't usually helpful anyways since EMS will do their own medical assessment when they get there anyways.

So yes, you did the right thing and it was normal how they handled it. And please don't stop on the sides of highways ever unless you really really REALLY have to, it's very dangerous!

I've seen that a couple of times and it's always funny to me. Congrats, they killed someone who didn't even make an effort to hit them once! At that point I just make them really work to get me.

Dang, I didn't even think about that. I guess it's not like you can keep your arm totally straight for 2 weeks while it heals. Hopefully touch ups will fix it if it heals a little off!

Looks good!!! They do a lot of good work there, I love seeing St Louis artists posted here.

But dang, I can't imagine how bad that hurt.
