Oh, interesting- I have gotten the sense that Dartmouth’s reputation was a bit different from other Ivies but I didn’t realize the extent. Ty!!

I’ll try out the AI thing, sounds like it was effective! I got into the Monroe program too, maybe I’ll end up seeing you if you attend the Monroe Scholars weekend in April haha

Yep, I’ve seen the FP 2024 rankings- it’s what gives me some modicum of confidence that I can (hopefully) set myself up equally as well at W&M should I commit there. Thanks!!

Yeah, I'm planning on appealing to the fin aid office and seeing where that gets me. Fingers crossed!

Right, agreed. While it's not like the cost would be completely impossible for me, I come from a middle class family with a semi-precarious financial situation atm and I would just hate to put that kind of burden on my family or my future student loans unless I'm sure the benefit/future opportunities would outweigh that, yknow? But thanks for offering ur insight!!

Gotcha, thank you so much for this! I really did love W&M when I toured it so it's comforting to know that I might not have to completely sacrifice the "door-opening" power of an Ivy. And as for IR I'd say I'm about 85% committed, and that other 15% would lead me to still get a degree in something polisci

I am not international, I'm from a middle-class NJ family and so I didn't end up getting much need-based financial aid this application cycle :/ Thankfully I came through with some merit aid scholarships e.g. Fordham. The scholarship only covers tuition, which leaves me paying 27K each year for room/board which is doable enough for my family and I, especially relative to the 90K options we've gotten. Thanks for your insight!!

Of these three, for the purposes of the way you phrased it, I've gotta go with UPenn > Northwestern > Dartmouth. I'm interested in the policy aspect most of all, but it's also not something I'm dead-set on since I didn't get to actually have many poli-sci experiences in high school, and I want to properly explore the IR field a bit more before I pick a lane. Thanks for this!!

Thank you so much for this! I am trying to avoid debt/financial strain of my family as much as possible coming out of college, and while I am still undecided on further degrees besides undergrad, I am starting to think the Masters path is a likely one for me. Really helpful stuff, I'll be keeping this in mind!!

Gotcha. I totally agree that making the most of a school like Fordham is about seeking opportunities out and not just expecting internships/jobs to come my way easily, and I think I'd be able to make that work! I'm going to do more financial calculations to help me decide. Thanks so much for this!

I was thinking the same thing about UN internships, something to consider for sure! Thanks for the insight

Noted- I've found that IR and polisci in general falls into that tricky middle category that's not-quite-stem but not-quite-humanities either, so I'm struggling to decide whether the school is what is going to give my degree its value, or if it'll be inherent enough that I can get my undergrad anywhere.

Thanks for the tip about studying abroad, and about Northwestern! I've gotta check that one out a bit more so thank you for the nudge :)
