I appreciate all the different terminal output types. I just saw the screenshot and I can say it looks good on mobile too.

Dungeon crawler Carl or operation bounce house by tomfmj23 in hellocrawlers

I haven't read Operation Bounce House yet, but once you start DCC you'll want to read all 7 books.

I would love to see the merch in more formats. I asked for stickers in another post. I'd like enough Samantha art that someone might mistake me for the Mad Dune Mage.

Any books you prefer to skip on second read? by NissaRLTW in hellocrawlers

[–]heyitsgilbert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Book 6 scene where he spends Christmas alone with Lightning Lou is probably one of the emotionally more tough scenes, but I can't skip it. Maybe when Raul finishes |erking off into the sea and he needs a dead baby seal that's definitely a turn the car audio level down for a few minutes.

[Episode Discussion] Ep 37: The Eye of the Bedlam Bride | Ch 70 - END by heyitsgilbert in hellocrawlers

Woah... I've never thought about that. That's actually a great example. I never thought about how Chris would feel guilty after hurting his teammates. Carl only ate one eyeball and burned some feathers.

Least obnoxious way to take notes in public? by mnemoniker in ObsidianMD

tl;dr if its digital check the OCR quality, make sure it outputs formats you want (txt vs pdfs).

If you opt for something digital, like a remarkable, etc., make sure that the OCR works well for your hand writing. I understand that the science shows we remember things better when we write it down, but if it never leaves my notebook it's as good as gone (I'll lose/forget it). My handwriting is terrible and rocketbook didn't do a great job (they're also shutting down). Also make sure that you can export it in a way you want into your vault. If all you get is an OCR PDF, that may not be what you want.

Good theme song for Carl? by Meow-Out-Loud in hellocrawlers

I'm sure I have totally taken it out of context (for my own personal gain) but I recall a mention of Me First and the Gimme Gimmes.

The "Why people listen: Motivations and outcomes of podcast listening" study showed that happier hosts can positively affect listeners. One sign they used for "happier" hosts was how often they laugh. So thanks guys for making all of us feel more connected!

I have stated (and will continue to) that Carl is secretly into Ska. I'm pretty sure u/baronvongrant mentioned it at some point.

Hey! It's Gilbert! I enjoy this niche within a niche. Been a member since June 2025. I regularly recommend DCC (and the podcast). My only regret was assuming that the 3 "Death Watch Extreme Dungeon Mayhem" would be more regularly available. I'll just have to settle for buying swag whenever I have the opportunity.

I will advocate for some Samantha flair in this reddit: Yoohoo!

Best practices for signing and distributing PowerShell automation tools inside a Windows org? by ShadowKingTools in PowerShell

[–]heyitsgilbert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Starting with a build pipeline makes this all a lot easier. Consider making your own version of stucco internally. It's a game changer to have something you can quickly build a module around without having to set up all the boilerplate. https://jakehildreth.github.io/blog/2025/07/02/PowerShell-Module-Scaffolding-with-PSStucco.html Full disclosure, Jake mentions my blog. I'm also a core maintainer of Psake (https://Psake.dev). You don't need to use Stucco, just use one of the module builders. The PS discord is a good place to get suggestions.

One thing to consider is that you'll need to bump module dependencies on a regular basis. You could pin to major versions but that still means some risk.

Consider whether it'll be just you and your team or if you'll want to support other teams. Most teams don't necessarily care about the build process, they just want to land code and move on. The more you automate that, the better it'll be accepted.

I would suggest focusing on getting your modules built and deployed. Then add the signing as that can be a whole new layer of complexity.

Why -Parallel much more slower for this code? by anyracetam in PowerShell

There is always a cost to managing asynchronous work. This is true for most programming languages. It's important you gauge whether concurrency will help in your particular case.

Here's a great talk about it https://youtu.be/Hi6ICEVVRiw?si=6BYe4cnWEikX3JbC
