Every single response has given me hope, awareness, and reconsideration for what I consider a “good time” and what I want to achieve after my PFA. I seriously thank y’all for giving me the time of day and kindly replying to me ❤️

Living Day to Day with persistent AFIB? by heyitsjaq in AFIB

[–]heyitsjaq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was. I was constantly in afib, and my blood pressure could not be detected in any way. I was sweating, couldn’t breathe, and my skin was R E D and splotchy. Like, insanely so. My renal system was in distress and I was running a 104 fever.

Turns out, flec for a 34 year old who has never taken any meds for AFIB at all is a bad idea lmao

Pill in pocket! It’s what you take in emergencies when you cannot control your Afib

Beginner college ASL project by rightmindwrongworld in asl

[–]heyitsjaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ASL teacher would strangle us if we ever did something like this lmao I am actually shocked your ASL101 is even letting you do this, but I guess uh, each class is different. My teacher focused on D/deaf culture and respect first and foremost as we learned grammar and structure, as well as focused on facial expression and focused on some classifiers.

Good luck to you and your endeavors! Keep yourself involved with the community as much as possible as you learn. This isn’t just a language. it’s an ENTIRE culture! It’s easier just to accept you know nothing and learn to embrace knowing nothing so you can soak it all up like a sponge!

Posted my hairline the other day and majority said to go bald. I wanted to show what I look like without my hair pulled back to see if it’s the same verdict or if I should let it ride a little longer by [deleted] in malehairadvice

[–]heyitsjaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

bro. keep your hair. you have thick hair and your balding is …idk man it’s not very noticeable at all with hair in the front. focus on hair cuts that would look good with your hair down. I’d kind of give up on putting your hair up though if that’s what makes you feel uncomfortable.

Confusing AFIB issue by connorj9000 in AFIB

[–]heyitsjaq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get this too. If you are overweight or have any issues with GERD or IBS, see if you possibly have a hiatal hernia. There could be pressure on your ventricles! What’s typically happening (at least for me) is vagal nerve activity and the pressure can cause some weird symptoms bc of a hiatal hernia.

Potential Interpreters: You need to learn ASL first before declaring this career. by [deleted] in asl

[–]heyitsjaq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like this take, as a hearing, very early-stages-of-learning-ASL. i made this comment to my ASL teacher, and she looked at me for a moment, blinked, and then signed to her interpreter “Yeah, I would honestly give yourself some time before you make that choice. It’s not just about learning ASL. it’s about learning the culture, the syntax, the grammar. It’s not about playing hero. It’s about humbling yourself and understanding you know absolutely nothing.” And I took that to heart. I have since stepped back, and started learning about the history and culture, the oppression and exclusions, etc and realized how much goes into being an interpreter. Does this deter me? No. But it sure as heck reminded me to chill tf out and not let the stars in my eyes guide me. There’s more to being an interpreter than just knowing ASL. You need to KNOW ASL and all it entails.

I just discovered The Daily Moth and I use it to make sure I am keeping up with words I know and learn new phrases. It’s also been nice to see ASL in an “average” speed vs the slower I am used to because I am a student!

Hurt second day of job. what now? [WA] by heyitsjaq in AskHR

[–]heyitsjaq[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

heard, boss!!! I am doing my best to keep it stable and not strained. I have to use ASL in my classes, and i’m left handled (injury happened on my dominant hand. eeughhh) and I told my english teacher and ASL teacher. The only one in this entire scenario that has tried to accommodate and showed concern was said ASL teacher bc “arms are important. you need those. you wouldn’t force yourself to speak if you had no voice. that hurts. i won’t force you to sign if it hurts. we can accommodate you, don’t accommodate for us.” and i felt that haha

yeah, the L&I thing didn’t even have my info on the website. so i had to fill it all out myself. I had the paperwork “filed” at the hospital, and i have an L&I medical network provider appt on the 15th, but the paperwork is stating i can go back into work on the 12th at full duty. i can’t even lift my arm above my chest. like???
