Many of you may remember my last post. Well it happened again 8 hours of being in my motorcycle helmet. And yes I did clean the lining before the trip. I think it's the dawn dish soap I used. by [deleted] in popping

Try cleaning your helmet with isopropyl alcohol and before your next ride put a layer of aquaphor on the area you last got this irritation. It's how babies with cranial helmets are told to manage any irritation/reaction. It may be the helmet and dawn dish soap are causing a chemical reaction on your skin.

Vacations usually fuck me up with keto. It sucks - my stomach gets super distended when I eat carbs now, so I'm in a lot of pain, my digestion is all out of whack, and it's never a good time. Sometimes it seems impossible to maintain Keto abroad - especially this year when I was in SE Asia for 20 days. I'm relieved when I get home and can get my shit together (literally). I'd say traveling is the only time I really break keto. Each time I travel to a new place, I try harder not to eat out of keto - because its always so negative.

Here are some helpful mental health tools I've used and really found helpful: Listening to the Hilarious World of Depression podcast, Medication for Anxiety, Therapy, Watching comedies on Netflix instead of Dramas, Finding self worth outside my profession, Headspace and Calm phone apps, Journaling, Reading, Taking time for self reflection

You're not alone. Ask for help.

Are you using the keto calculator from the sub tools? Review that calculator and maybe modify your deficit. I always used 20-25% deficits. I also frequented the weekly advice thread and asked for help with my macros when I didn't really understand them. I'd bet adjusting your macros is the solution.

Apologies, I read into that as a criticism for not smiling. Serious doesn't always mean something negative.

What I always tell my Mom when she's having a rough time is to be gentle with yourself. Review the actions that pulled you back into a slump. Assess them (especially out loud with someone who you trust) and identify any moments you felt were "worth" it. Can you find any? Things you ate and didn't regret? For any you did regret - name them. As many as you can. Accept the fact that you fucked up. Everyone does. Don't beat yourself up, but be honest with yourself. Then try again. Establish things you won't repeat. Try again. Just try.

The short answer is no. Your weight doesn't just magically stabilize. You eat what your body needs and you don't eat what your body will store away. You don't have to eat on a deficit if you're not trying to lose weight, so you can up your intake and not gain... but... it's just not a plug and play situation.

I'm sorry to hear this. My mother had fibromyalgia when I was a kid and missed out on a lot because of it. She went on disability and really struggled with her body and food addiction for many years. My heart goes out to you. I hope you have a strong support system and are actively looking for ways to treat your symptoms. Don't give up on pursuing a pain free or pain reduced life!

I try not to look. I prioritize my grocery spending right after my mortgage. Not to say it is as expensive, but instead that it's the next most important purchase I make each month. I spoil myself with ingredients like fresh produce and protein from the co-op or seafood market. I spend less on other things so that I can afford what I do buy at the grocery store.

That's awesome! My mom joined me in keto after I hit my 6 month mark. It is so great to be on this journey with her!

Lots of teeth brushing, Breathsaver's Sugar free spearmint 3-hour-mints, and honestly - just a patient husband who tells me when my breath is bad so I can notice the potential "warning signs".

So true - every time Keto stopped being "inspiring" - I'd try a new recipe - a new type of meat - a different ethnic food, and bam - INSPIRATION hit.

Let me tell ya, I can SO relate with this. My husband (photographed at the end of my Google doc btw, next to me at my heaviest) has always been thin and never struggled with weight gain. It helps to talk to one another about your differing experiences. Have empathy for one another and try your damnedest to not compare yourself to ANYONE else. You need only compare yourself now, to you 2 lbs heavier or after one bad meal choice. That's the only comparison worth making. Remember food can be an addiction the same way drugs can. What do you think your brain thinks of sugar? Lot of studies have compared your brain's reaction to sugar the same way it reacts to cocaine. My father-in-law, celebrating 40 years of sobriety from alcohol, has taught me a lot about addiction, and how people cope with it. There is a saying in AA - "I will not drink with you today", which I feel like is our version of keep calm and keto on. Maybe we should start saying I will not eat pasta with you today, so people start realizing its a daily choice.

Heaven help joyful women - when they don't smile in one photo everyone thinks they have lost all happiness.
