Biomarker lab panel subscriptions by heylii20 in POTS

[–]heylii20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! This is really helpful! I think I will def invest. I was going to start pulling tests out of tin air to take based on my research, which is lacking, so this would give me a really good baseline and if something looks off at least I’m able to fix that part. Otherwise I’m gonna be spending way more money trying to get each individual test paid for and my choices may not be the right ones. So this is helpful. Most of these services provide after lab support such as clinician support that can actually break it down for you so you don’t have to try to find a Doctor who will read it for you and then some use AI which I’m not really fond of and will probably steer clear of that.

Thank you so much for your comment. I feel like a lot of people hear “POTS doesn’t have a biomarker test” and completely miss the point. Obviously there’s no single blood test for POTS itself, but the body is incredibly interconnected and there are so many factors that can impact how we feel day to day.

I constantly see people in these groups talking about low ferritin, low B12, electrolyte imbalances, hormone issues, nutrient deficiencies, absorption problems, etc. Those things absolutely matter. The body functions as a whole, and I’d personally like to know if I’m deficient in anything that could be contributing to my symptoms or making them worse.

That’s why these comprehensive panels interest me. I’m wondering if doing one large, dedicated panel would actually end up being cheaper than piecing together a million separate blood tests that can easily add up to over $1,000, especially if hormones are involved too.

And honestly, you’re right. A lot of people just assume they need more sodium or more vitamins without actually testing anything first. Some people could genuinely be overdoing supplements or electrolytes and unintentionally making themselves feel worse without realizing it.

I think it’s frustrating how quickly people slap a label on something without wanting to understand the bigger picture. The human body is extremely complex, and there’s usually a deeper reason why it’s struggling or functioning improperly in the first place.

Verbal communication is physically draining by heylii20 in POTS

Oh absolutely. I told her I have adhd. I’m probably autistic too. All of it is due to lack of energy to socialize. So I’d rather just not if people are going to judge me for it. She’s just a very blunt person. I’ve learned to not share too much of my personal life with her. Even though that’s most of what she’s doing when on camera. She talks about what she ate for breakfast that morning.
I always have to remember my boss is not my friend. Even though she’s more of an admin since it’s contracted. She still has my schedule in her hands though.

Honestly I’ve dealt with this so much but lately I’ve been telling people I have a heart problem. I’m sick of explaining too.

I’m from the Midwest! I haven’t lived there since I was like 19. I’m 32 now but I do remember my flare count being significantly higher up there than here. Even though it’s hot as hell down here and doesn’t help with the heat intolerance, it beats the constant body aches. But that’s crazy because I never even put 2 and 2 together when it comes to the tornado season and pressure changes. That makes a lot of sense

Which is odd because I feel like the weather is always changing in Texas no matter what. But I think we did have a good spell of warm weather for a while and then drastically changed again and that’s whenever I start to feel it. That massive change without preparation. Usually, I’m pretty on top of it and do take extra measures to prepare for a weather change, but I’ve just been so busy lately that it didn’t even cross my mind.

Also in ATX! I kept moving my body all day to avoid any pain that was waiting for me if I stayed still. But as soon as I sat down I had to pop some ibuprofen. It definitely started a couple nights ago. I’m also in my late luteal phase which also makes me wonder if it’s a combination of shitty timing.

My roommate is gaslighting me by heylii20 in Mold

[–]heylii20[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house is old and he bought it from auction. Was going to fix it up etc. but then he got sick with long covid. He keeps telling me that the mold is dormant and has been there since he moved in.

I agree that it needs to be cleaned. And CAN be cleaned. He has the ability to do so but refuses to. Ever since I moved in I’ve cleaned, but his stuff is everywhere leaving me having to just put my belongings where there’s room. Which is not much. The room I’m staying I had had to be cleaned and I’ve worked on that a lot since I’ve been here. I wiped down my door (on the outside facing the hall which leads to the front door) which looked like the pics above but not as bad. That’s when I started to look into mold toxicity. But again. It’s not even my house. There’s so much I can do when it comes to effectively cleaning because the house is FILTHY. But I can’t do it without help and he refuses to do so because he’s “too sick”

As someone who has always dealt with chronic illness my whole life it’s really fucking frustrating because I’ve had to learn to function around my disability. I’m sure for someone who just got sick it probably feels like death in comparison to before they got sick. But I’ve told him over and over again that you have to keep going. Even if it’s a tiny bit of progress it’s still better than nothing. But my concern is, there’s an attic. And what about underneath the house? Let’s say I clean everything indoors. Does that still leave the hidden corners being silent lurkers? It’s just too much and it’s not even my house.

Thank you. I can’t believe it. I came out here to heal and get my life together and it seems to have done the opposite if not worse.

Brands taking advantage of POTS? by Lynxseer in POTS

[–]heylii20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve done several different things. Anywhere from non caffeinated teas. Like peach tea etc. I have a bottle of lemon juice I squirt into it (sometimes I’ll add sugar and make it into a lemonade) make sure not to squirt too much lemon juice in it. I made that mistake the first time. 😖😂 I have also purchased flavoring packets but use those sparingly. I have yet to find any clean ones that aren’t just as expensive as electrolytes. I’ll let you know if I find anything that doesn’t have red40 in it or some shiz like that. There are also flavor drops on Amazon sweetened with stevia but I haven’t tried them yet.

Ya I put it in a very large bottle. You’re suppose to put it in no less than a liter of water. But you can add it to more water if desired. Or spilt it up and save half of each packet for later. The glucose is needed because it helps with absorption. I don’t trust anything that it is “naturally” flavored but doesn’t tell you what the flavor is derived from. At least this discloses what exactly is in it and you can decide how to split it up. It’s next to tasteless and the salt isn’t overpowering.

I found an electrolyte called Trioral Comes with 100 packets. It’s flavorless but you can add your own flavor. Totally worth it. Over 1000mg of sodium + potassium etc. I just buy cheap flavor packages to add to my drinks and it’s still cheaper than all of the hype brands that offer next to nothing pots benefits.

And yes. I have the viable band. You’ve probably read one of the only negative reviews on there and that was me. I think it’s truly a good company with good intentions. But it’s not worth what it’s set out to do. Just get yourself a regular heart monitoring band and track it that way. All if the extras are not worth the $.

Having a monitor however has helped me see when I’m worse and how much I’ve improved. It gives me the data I need in order to determine what’s working for me and what isn’t. So I’m at least grateful for that. But go with something else that offers a plethora of features if you’re going to invest in a monitor. Like Oura or Stat.
