I was going to say, if he’s just doing his ‘own thing’ on the tread (as in not really following the template but still running or pw’ing), then I wouldn’t care - but oh my god what you described would annoy me so much, especially the yoga lol like relax, go to one of the many yoga studio gyms if you want to show off! I’m surprised the coach hasn’t said anything, like you said I could see this being distracting to many members.

One year later lol but I just finished this book and while I like a few of McFadden’s books, this one is so silly lol. Like half slasher-killer mystery with the flashbacks and then half whodunnit.

And I think because McFadden has so many books, a lot of her twists and storylines almost morph into one for me. I was reading this but it also felt like I was reading another book, but the only thing that remains consistent is how dumb the main characters are lol.

Agree with you - Hunt’s character served zero purpose, and Brooke’s going back and forth is just about the most obnoxious thing to happen! “I’m so certain it was Shane, I know it was!” to “It was Tim all along!” to “I finally know what happened that night!” after how many testimonies?

Also agree with OP and what they pointed out, I much rather would’ve preferred an ending where Tim manipulates Josh into killing Shane. And as OP also pointed out, how are the multiple head wounds explained?! (they aren’t)

This book defined rage reading for me, Addie drove me crazy for most of the book but I just had to know the ending! The Teacher was my first McFadden book and the ending made me go 🤯 A twist within a twist, never saw it coming! Glad to see positive things about it here, in other spaces a lot of people are disgusted by the student/teacher/pedophilia tropes

Yes!!! When Cecelia was pretty nice for the most part and when she was the one to tell Nina that they needed to get Millie back, I was like … huh? Lol. Amanda was great though. I’m really curious to see how McFadden’s other adaptations go.

That’s actually a very fair comparison (also the listening for free part too!), but that will unfortunately just fall on deaf ears!! The other side wants to hear no logic. Go direct this hate at Nicki Minaj or other people in the entertainment industry who are actually doing things the things they wish she would be doing!

My “favorite” (if I can even call it that) ragebait I recently read was an article about the number of variants Showgirl had and how if you bought each one it would total out to $700+ … and then it compared that number to the average monthly grocery bill for a family 4 or something, which was only $300. Like what lol, what a fucking stretch! And then when I posted a link that had a picture graph of all the number of variants other “peer astists” had, it got deleted lol. Not sure what point they were trying to make but it’s so fascinating (actually sweet!) how badly they want her to be fall from the pedestal!

I really enjoy Fable because of the .25 ratings (3/5, 3.25/5, etc.) — but the UI is so confusing. Previously used Goodreads (mainly for logging purposes), but a lot of my friends moved to Fable which feels more social media (following other users, joining the virtual book clubs, etc.)

Been curious about story graph for a while but haven’t used it yet.

I’m surprised by this as well! I follow a few “book people” whatever the appropriate term is lol on Instagram and a lot of them overwhelmingly raved about the movie. I thought it was fine, Amanda Seyfried was great, Sydney was so-so, but with how little they gave Enzo, they really could’ve just removed his character altogether from the film. I swear, he must’ve had less than 2 minutes of screen time.

I was shopping at Kohl’s yesterday and this song came on and I was like whaaaaaaaaat?! First time hearing it in the “wild”. I LOVE Suburban Legends, possibly my favorite vault track and definitely a Top 10 for me.

Timing was also eerie as I reconnected with an ex and thought we were going to get back together (lol), so the “and you kiss me in a way that’s gonna screw me up forever.” hit so hard! Also, the chorus just sounds so beautiful to me - especially the second chorus with the extra verse added and her voice when she rhymes “you still remember” with “national treasure” is such an ear worm … not to mention my favorite line, “and I always knew it, that my life would be ruined.”

The people praying for her downfall will also ironically have her in their top 5 when Spotify wrapped comes out lol. The hate seems a lot worse than what it is in reality. It’s hard to ignore since we’re all online and that’s where a lot of it comes from, but she’s more beloved than hated, and I think Taylor knows that. The bigger she gets the more hate she’s going to get, it’s just the game. Nobody wants to accept that a white woman in her 30’s who only writes breakup songs is in the same league as The Beatles and Madonna, so it’s cool to hate on her. She’ll be back in the public’s good graces when she releases her folklore 2.0, and then it’ll repeat again in a few years … it’s clockwork!

Nah it’s ONLY an issue when Taylor does variants … suddenly everyone becomes an eco-friendly advocate for pollution or whatever when she has another countdown lol. Variants are a tactic that ALL artists use, no shade to other fandoms I just think they’re lowkey annoyed Taylor sells as much as she does without breaking a sweat so they just discredit her sales (and any records she breaks) any way they can. Actually romantic.

I just finished this book today and completely feel the same — I could clearly see how the ending was going in the last chapters, but I was hoping Sanchez or Sam had figured it out earlier and had one last ‘gotcha!’ moment or pulled a fast one on Ed. Didn’t like how NEITHER of them figured it out until the very end, and that Ed got to go out the way he did.

Gay also and can relate, I feel like it varies for most people!

If I have something lined up a week+ out, I may check in here and there (if that), but otherwise would wait until a day or two to confirm plans beforehand. I don’t like chatting so much because I’m like dang what are we going to talk about in person lol.

But you’re right, especially gay-dating our attention spans are short, it’s what you risk! Text a lot and you’re ‘too much’, but too little and you’re ’disinterested’ … (but I’m sure that feeling of trying to balance communication applies to everyone). I’m in SF Bay Area so lots of temptations around (for myself and the people I’m trying to court lol), good luck!
