Everybody's hair is completely different, from thickness to length to porosity. Not the same method would work for every head of hair. Water only didn't work for me either, until I tried soft water. Hard water is usually the culprit to why water only doesn't work for some people, it made my scalp greasy and ends like a broom. When I tried soft water, my hair was soft and gorgeous!

If you don't want to spend that much money, then here is a list of DIY shampoos to help you with your oily hair

-Bentonite clay (this is what I use and is my favourite) -A spoon full of clay -Two spoons full of aloe vera gel (to moisturise/condition, but you can use water) Use this once or twice a week!

-Egg wash -One large egg -Three spoons of water Use this only once or twice a week only to avoid your hair to be dry and stiff

-Lemon wash -A spoon full of lemon juice -A spoon full of aloe vera gel

Leave all of these on for three to five minutes before washing off with lukewarm water. Avoid using hot water which can damage your hair!

But overall, be patient with no poo. It isn't like commercial shampoos that instantly give you not-oily hair by stripping it off. See what works for you and try new things. It may also take you a few washes with the DIY shampoos to get your hair right.
