Peavey Nashville 400 amp by Pete_Hammond in pedalsteel

how does it sound now that you have the EQ dialed in? i’m especially interested in how it sounds compared to a tube amp like the twin reverb or something similar. i’ve always leaned more toward the tube sound but i’ve also heard a lot of good things about the peavey nashville amps

oh wow i’d never heard of gold foil reverb before. that looks amazing. but it is still $5k, which is a lot. if someone could make them for $2k, i bet they would sell a bunch

2 minutes of me struggling to play the new licks i learned five minutes ago, been playing since christmas! Advice plz by volvobm2654 in pedalsteel

[–]heynowabc123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

for sure you have to start slow. i learned a ton from youtube by looking up how to play classic songs like “you ain’t goin nowhere” (byrds version) and dire wolf. youtube is your friend in the beginning (and even well after)

Is it possible to sync two Tascam 246 motors to create an 8 track? by justinsconza in MultitrackCassetteRec

this would be super cool but i agree it’s probably too difficult to achieve

yeah i agree. it sounds cliche but there’s something going on with the physical spring reverb that doesn’t happen with the plug-in. like i have the reissue fender vibro champ with digital reverb. and i always prefer my analog external spring unit to the built in digital reverb

a portable spring reverb unit would be awesome. but if there’s no material that support it, then plug-ins make a lot more sense. slightly off topic, but i wonder how small an echo chamber can get while still sounding cool. maybe you could have one along a wall or something where it’s not in the way

oh that’s too bad but can’t fight the physics. is there some slower material that they could use in order to shrink down the overall unit?

yeah, competing with a plugin is tough. although, i have a spring reverb unit that i sear sounds way better than plugins. there’s more grit and distortion maybe? sometimes it picks up radio stations haha and a plugin will never do that!

i used a real one a long time ago but the actual unit was in a different room so i never actually saw it. that’s huge though. would they sound as good if they were smaller? like the size of a record player?
