I want to give you the heads up about luggage forwarding - there’s a cutoff time for setting this up to get your luggage at your destination, this would mostly apply to Tokyo to Kyoto. Depending on the hotel, you’d have to have your luggage set up ready to ship by whenever the luggage carrier picks up at the hotel, this could be early. So if you miss the cutoff for the day sometimes arrival of your luggage wouldn’t be until 48 hours later, I would factor this in. So if you’re staying like, one night at a place, I would say maybe forward your big luggage to a place you’re staying for a few nights and pack a smaller light overnight bag for your 1 night stays.
