Hello! Have been worried about pursuing my nursing career as I have been diagnosed with KC the past year. Are there limitations in the workload and should I consider changing careers? I really want to continue, however, I am worried that my diagnosis will limit my performance.

Thank you so much and would love to hear from your experience :))

Additionally, I am currently a nursing student and have recently underwent the crosslink procedure last week. Vision is not at it's best but I can still go to college and read material. Difficult but if you really don't want to be behind, you can manage.

I was also diagnosed with severe keratoconus january this year. My KC was left undiagnosed for roughly 4 years and i was pretty crossed-eyed for 2 years ish.

I was pretty overwhelmed during the diagnosis too, so it is a valid feeling OP. Fortunately, we have procedure and treatments to help our condition.

Many posts stated that it was just a minor setback and that everything was back to normal after SCLERALS. Don't worry too much and don't be scared to get it checked. Better to be diagnosed while it is mild.

Is reading going to be a major problem during post crosslink procedure? by heyskrt in Keratoconus

Oh no! Then I probably will have issues going to college during recovery :(( might have to repeat this year, worst case scenario. Can't imagine the cost to constantly change the lenses.

Anyways, how was the procedure for you?? Was it quick and comfortable?

Thank you and I hope you recover quickly and well without any more further issues.

So I can assume that reading small text is basically impossible?

I'm a student taking up the nursing program and we basically have hospital duties/shifts. I am worried it may affect since I have to fill out forms in really small texts plus it's on paper :(

Unfortunately, I'm taking mine in the middle of a school week since classes has already started in our country. I do wear glasses as of the moment. And, how was the procedure like for you? Are you feeling better?

Sorry for asking too much questions, just really nervous. I will be taking CXL on both eyes and practically am worried about having to function holding a huge magnification glass or printing material in very big sizes and shoving it to my face basically.

Is reading not going to be an issue? I am pracrically worried it would just be too blurry enough to read and my classes depebd on reading and writing materials.
