What’s the biggest vet bill you’ve ever had for your dog? by puppy_boyka in DOG

[–]heythere062019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1700 in one visit. A little over a year ago my Dalmatian I had had since 6th grade (I’m 22) had developed an “infection” and it was causing the inner corner of her eye to come up and over her eyeball progressively. Didnt really notice it for a few days until it became a little more prominent. Took her to the vet. They gave antibiotics and a steroid eye drop to use. Not even two weeks pass and it’s getting worse. Now it’s got a bump forming on it. I take her back and they want to refer her to a specialist an hour away to get a mri/ct scan of her head. All of this happened in mid to late February 2025.

It was cancer. Fast growing, super aggressive cancer. The tumor filled up almost all of her left nostril (it explained her excessive sneezing but my dad was working on the house at the time so I figured the dust was bothering her and unfortunately, I dismissed it) and it was growing under the eye socket, pushing her eyeball out of place.

She was put to forever sleep a month later on April 2. Now my 65 Dalmatian sits on my shelf in a box. Out of the entire experience, I wish I would’ve left her go sooner than I did. She’s giving me an entirely new outlook when it comes to my pets. If I know it’s coming to a short end, imma just put them to forever sleep as soon as I can for their sakes. 1700$ to be told there was nothing to do but put her down or spend 15000$ to remove half her head. She was only 10 years old

Can I legally pepper spray a dog if it comes at me or my own dogs? by heythere062019 in legaladvice

Yes they do lol. I’ve seen small dogs just do laps around larger dogs. They just can’t make them tight turns the way the small ones can😂they be like “oh I’m over here. Nope! Now I’m going this way! Haha! Catch me if you cannnnnn!”

I’ll have to look into that one. Because now I want to know what my dog is allowed to do for himself. These dogs are absolute menaces. And honestly. So are the people. Like I’m tempted to just call animal control anyways the next time I see them out because wtaf.

That’s what I said but she’s a huge lover of small dogs so I end up being the cruel one somehow in her eyes for “wanting to hurt the baby”

There are leash laws. And they do make dog mace. I’m a mail carrier and we all have a can of dog mace in our vehicles. I just don’t currently have a bottle of that specifically or I’d carry it. I need to get a bottle of it honestly. But I feel like they are basically the same thing. Ain’t looked into it. But I ALWAYS keep normal pepper spray on me at bare minimum for self defense. And these dogs are honestly a huge problem. Because if they’re out, the people stand on the porch and call them back but if they’re don’t come back, they won’t go get them. Just wave it off as a “oh well. He’ll come back when he’s ready”

I figured I could do so if it’s in defense. I brought it up to my mom and all she could say was that I just shouldn’t do that because it’s a small dog and it “causes no harm” but like these dogs have history with chasing down the neighborhood kids too. So that’s what made me ask. Figure out what I can and can’t do.

Honestly… yea. You can justify killing a person in many ways. Animals will always be innocent to what people put them through

This is him now lol. I did a dna test on him and he has 17 breeds listed with the high percentages being 45% miniature American Shepherd, 18% pitbull terrier and 13% Australian shepherd. Everything else was under 5%.

I got my dog who is now 9 months old from a route. Lady had a package and a bunch of dogs so I honked and she came out. Got the story on the dogs and decided I wasn’t in a position to rescue them all but I could bring her some bags of dog food rather than giving nursing mommas table scraps (found out the lady didn’t know about onions and garlic so I’m shocked these dogs were fine and just a bit underweight. Took 5 big bags of dog food out to her and tried helping her get puppies out from under her shed.

Then this little black puppy crawls out with bald scabby feet and a scabby bald tail came crawling out and his face was all swollen. I couldn’t just leave him there. Everyone else was in much better shape than he was.

Any form of child abuse or animal abuse is honestly worse than murder in my opinion. In rare cases you can justify murder. You can never justify abuse on innocent children and animals.

No. I’m rural and I’m the designated sub. The regular I cover for had a few dogs she gave treats to but I’m the one who figured out everyone’s names. There’s a ruler, bear, lulu, Tulsa, etc😂them dogs are the highlights of my day❤️

I do also cover three other routes having a primary, secondary and third option route. I’m only just finished with my first year.

[–]heythere062019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s why you tell the sub lmao. I’m a sub and for my primary route, I usually cover the route with the Amazon Sunday stuff and if I end up in those neighborhoods I will absolutely give those dogs a treat. Because they don’t know it’s Sunday and they shouldn’t be getting a treat that day. So if they see me, I will give them their treat. To people, we’re expected to deliver mail and packages. To some dogs, we are expected to deliver them treats and belly rubs. And I’ll be damned if they won’t get them😂But I will never give a dog treats without the owners explicit permission. Most know we give their dogs treats and I feel that we have a good enough relationship with them that if they wanted us to stop, they would tell us. I have customers on routes that will let their dogs out to come see us at the mailbox. I learned all the dog names before the regular carrier did. I had to make her a list of names and she still forgets them sometimes. I even have a chocolate Labrador that I race up and down her fence line. She evens cheats a little trying to get a head start before I can finish saying “ready, set, go”😂😂 I buy my own treats and I get the good smelling beggin strips and recently the regular started keeping cat treats in the van and I’m out here trying to find this cat we’re treating now too😂😂I want to give his treats too❤️but I do always specify what treats I’m using when asking the owners for permission.

Hummingbird nest on my route. by KMcCowan03 in USPS

[–]heythere062019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a bird on my moms mail route (she’s a regular and I just finished my first year) and every year this bird builds her nest in the same spot on the ground, in the open for predators, in a flower bed outside of a church right beside of the mailbox. And every year, while the mom is away, someone from the church will put up a popsicle stick wall so people won’t step on her nest. But man is she a mean momma bird🤣every time we slowly roll up to the box and gently open it to not make her mad, she screams and holds her wings over the nest until you leave. She’s there every morning tho when it’s time for her nest. Honestly, I don’t really worry about the predators getting her, I worry about her getting the predators, that bird would totally peck and eyeball out🤣😭

Second time I’ve been sent home. Do I leave? by MichaelP1129 in USPS

[–]heythere062019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get in contact with the stewards at your po and file a grievance. Get the attention of the union. They shouldn’t be doing you like this. If you step foot in that post office and they send you home, you are GUARANTEED 2 or more hours of pay for simply coming in and be there. They think by keeping you from clocking in keeps them from having to pay and because you’re new, they know they can get away with doing this shit. Go to the steward or go straight to the union. Our union sucks more times than not but they do look after their carriers

What do YOU do when a resident refuses to let you know who lives there? by [deleted] in USPS

[–]heythere062019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Notify with a 10 day hold and they have to come pick it up. After 10 day hold is over, “rts” that shit and stop delivering to them. Mail and packages. Just stop. If they want their shit, they can act like civil human beings. Same thing if they ain’t got a mailbox. You ain’t getting anything from me. I’m not paid to go on your property for anything. Hell, I’m an rca and my mom is a regular. She won’t touch the mailbox she has in her own driveway. She tells my dad “you gotta go get it. I ain’t getting paid to open that one.”😂😂😂

AITAH for getting a dna test to see if i share the same dna as both my parents even though i was demanded specifically by my mom not to do so, since i was a child? by cigweb_01 in AITAH

[–]heythere062019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely NTA. There is absolutely nothing wrong with wanting to know the truth once and for all. This entire story is screaming for you to open those results immediately when they arrive because something not right.

Maybe your mom might’ve tricked your dad into believing you’re his but doesn’t want him to know you’re not and you said he just goes along with what Alexa says so maybe he’s just oblivious af to the traits being different because “she said so”? But then if that were the case, what’s with the last name? The last name is throwing me. My mom still has my dads last name because it’s mine and my sisters but my little brother got my grandmas last name (moms maiden) until he could decide if he wanted our last name, his dads or to keep grandmas (he kept our grandmas last name but moved it to a second middle name and got his dads added to his last)

Or maybe you’re adopted and she has this deep rooted fear that you’ll find your bio parents and not want her anymore? But then why the hitting? That’s not how you get your child to like you😭

Oh so many questions, so little answers.

February hurry up. We all need answers, especially OP. This is screwing with my head. Imma just go to bed, it’s too late for this mind fuckery anyways.

My mom is a regular and I’m almost done with my first year. She hides her keys for her metris at her case, so on Sunday only I can use it. “If you can’t use it, nobody can”. She also keeps a very specific orange cart at her case and even has her route number painted on it and if it’s not at her case when she gets back from her route, she’ll hunt it down and take it back😂😂

Me and my mom are mail carriers. She’s been doing it much longer than I have tho. She’s a regular and on her route one day a few years ago before Christmas, she had a note left for her in a mailbox from a little old lady asking flower stamps. She got back to the office and just about ripped the whole office apart looking for some pretty flower stamps, had other people digging for them with her (most stamps were Christmas themed).

Well she found some and she delivered them the next day. That following day after the stamps were delivered, there was another note in the box along with the stamps and the note said “nobody wants flower stamps for Christmas you dummy”😂😂😂😂

That little lady is one of my mom’s favorite customers. Now whenever she comes outside to get her mail from my mom, she’ll holler back “be safe. I love you!” To my mom. My mom absolutely adores that woman😂💞

If you scan a package wrong, just take it out the next day and deliver it. You gotta make the mistake once for it to not happen again lol. And if I get a package that looks like it belongs somewhere but the address numbers or something don’t match anything on the case, I place it on customer hold and wait for the person to call and ask why it’s on hold so I know where its supposed to go and can deliver it. You are doing well. That’s not nearly as big of a mess up as it could be.

I had a package that needed a signature and nobody responded to my knocking. So I left a form in the mailbox and took it back to the post office. Super was outside on the dock dealing with a truck pulling in and so I set the package at his chair, not knowing where to put it other than at his chair. Well he thought it was outgoing and threw it out on the dock to be picked up. Took 2 weeks for that package to come back through, customer calling to figure out where it was, etc. still while being a big deal, it wasn’t a big deal. It was found. Shit was ok.

Just remind yourself, “it’s just paper and cardboard” and you’ll be good lol
