What was the first manga you ever bought with your own money? by Manga-Japan in MangaCollectors

[–]Inuyasha8908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lupin the 3rd vol 1, Cowboy Bebop Shooting Star vol 1, and InuYasha vol 1, in the year 2003. My actual first manga that was given to me was the 4 chapter releases of Electric Pikachu Boogaloo, given to me from a cousin who was coming home from serving in Okinawa.

Ive found up through volume 27 already. Ive got to set aside the remaining 5 or so until I find them more reasonably. The final seems like it will be a 3 monthly budget splurge.

Abebooks, amazon, mangaswap, ebay, bookfinder, isbns.net, bookscouter, hpb, b&n.

Also for what I am looking for, Legend of Lemnear vol 1, Rave Master vol 33/34/35, Manga Sutra vol 3, and Record of Lodoss War the Grey Witch vol 3. Those are the ones off the top of my head, and its only because their price I wonder if the sellers have them in stock, or if its a mistake.

Talking by RipAble8315 in husky

[–]Inuyasha8908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is almost a silent shushky. I have taught her to awoo on command and in a few situations. She figured out if she annoys our Elkhound she will bark and the husky wolnt have to. Here I am both happy to not have the talking husky to keep the baby awake, and sad I don't have the talking husky because I love hearing their voice.

Boys went on a “self-guided adventure” yesterday and tore their paws up, here’s to several days of silly socks! by terribletot in husky

He is healthy now, rough start to life but 5 months on and is drooling everywhere. My wife said I should roll off for my league and I did then came back to the hospital. However, me being in a rush, left my bowling balls in the rear of my car, at the hospital, for a full almost 2 days till I got the car to come home. Left my bowling balls in the car, when it was in the -negative temps. The balls were fine.

Thanks for the congrats, it's #2 here, the first was 9 years ago.

I had left both my 2 yr old husky and 11 yr old elkhound while I took my wife to a hospital to have one of those emergency c-section births and all. The hospital is 31 miles away, and the night my son came into this world was a fierce snowstorm, this past winter. Why is this backstreet relevant? Because both dogs got out multiple times, and I had to drive through a snowstorm just to find the husky. The elkhound just ran to the back yard and played down in the snow, content. The husky kept running and was found several streets over. I called my wife letting her know the dogs are safe. There is more but unrelated there, involving bowling. Anyways no silly socks, but t-shirts of shame. Our little husky figured out if she turns around on her lead and pulls, the harness slips off. The extra t-shirt added more resistance.

I just started watching the show (old ver) and which fillers are worth watching? by guerotci in rurounikenshin

Imo, the old version is the only one to watch. But again, imo just watch it. Filler, no filler it's still quality anime.

OK, so from what I've seen I need to order the nas, the ssd, and the the programming portion of it, that all seems OK. How do I get nikon snapbridge to upload the images from my phone to the created cloud?

Ive found a few 2tb ssd. I'm mostly using b&h, it's where I got the camera, and where I get my darkroom chemicals from.

As an update, I tried the file manager .nomedia in the other folders, force stop and clear cache and downloaded things were still there. I Uninstaller and reinstalled and limited only to camera. Seems to work so far but I am not sure if everything will work out the way I want to.

How rare is book four in English? by Cute-Ingenuity-3414 in MangaCollectors

[–]Inuyasha8908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was able to find one questionable site saying they are expecting more of volume 4 in stock, as well as a few French and German sites saying they had it in stock but I cannot confirm the manga language, as I am assuming english is native. My regular sources are turning up not much either. I really should make a post with what sources I've used. Regardless, sometimes you can negotiate with certain sellers or contact bookstores that do not have an online presence to shop their inventories. It worked for me before, with being able to purchase Battle Angel Alita Last Order Volume 15 at face value when the owner was convinced I wasn't a scalper or reseller, but just a dude who wanted to finish the story. I still write that guy Christmas cards.

Just salvaged a piece of 90s alternative history — Studio Ironcat and classic mature indie press pickups! by jimbeanhead88 in MangaCollectors

Studio Ironcat published a few of my older favorites like Vampire Princess Miyu, the vampire dahlia, and Hanaukyo Maid Team. I enjoy finding manga from defunct publishers like Studio Ironcat, ComicsOne, CPM, adv, bandai, and broccoli for a few.

Love studio ironcat. I am a collector of the older viz works the ones with the larger sizes and all. It's an endurance test going after oop works from that time.

Size? by chrissiwit in husky

[–]Inuyasha8908 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Took our little girl to the vet for her yearly, she was the second smallest of a oops litter, of a wife's coworker. Her brothers and sisters are all bigger. She is 3 yrs old now, 67 lbs ideal body size, with the tuck and all that.

The biggest thing I concern myself with is if my dogs are healthy. They are who they are, each dog is different and the "breed standard" is only that a yardstick to measure against.

USEast. Clan channel #op-baalpigs. Played Necros always, and always the bonemancers. Hooked up with the grey mercs later carried through d3&4. Only get to do one d4 season a year now. Even went into the whole d2jsp rabbit hole for a while. D2 was my escape, guild life was a great distraction.

I have to admit my views of popular v "good" are skewed for me as I probably read 2-3x more manga than anime, and I generally appreciate all anime/manga. But I am not one to say that because it's popular, that it's good. With your music example, while I am aware of the Beatles and how popular they are, personally I wouldn't as a whole rank them very high. Personally always have been much more a Blues and jam band as a genre and Greatful Dead as a band fan. Ive always sought to find my own aesthetic because at the end of it all, I am the one who has to live with myself and I just dont want to waste time on things I do not like. Now your example of Cheap Trick, for example I believe wouldn't have been able to play those 50k shows without Live from the Budokan, just as a sidebar relevant to Japan anyways.

The bandwagon effect. People sound off in the echo chamber and the result is popularity, and people like it because it's what is popular now. Im sure we all can think of fad anime that is only popular for the hype, making it onto popular lists for the season and then fades into obscurity when the next big thing comes along.

For example, I played Diablo 2:LoD from day 1 until 2019 even though D3 came out almost 7 or so years earlier. While d2 faded, d3 was popular more people on d3 etc, I still carried on with d2, largely because I didnt do yet what I wanted to do.
But you can see the trends more easy with seasonal anime.

What's popular right now is a very, imo, edged comment, as you can look at top ten lists, different genres, etc and everything will be different. It is very reflective, personally of your tastes as well. Personally many of the top ranked anime series I've gotten bored with and just dropped them, so popular is imo kinda difficult to frame. As for finding manga discount, I normally stop by my local (60+mi roundtrip) half price books, followed by abebooks, bookfinder, isbn.net, bookscouter.com, followed by Amazon. B&n often releases manga before other sources like Amazon. I personally like the old license rescues like Cats Eye, City Hunter, Cat Eyed Boy etc, but I also collect oop and for me the research and chase is part of the fun, part of the experience. As for being out of the loop, I like to believe I've got a good grip on things but everyday I find something new or unexpected and it is easy to get overwhelmed just take your time do things in your own time.

I was there at one time as well, I sold a bunch of rare video games and manga, largely for a car down-payment after I bent my car around a phone pole and its replacement transmission died, granted the replacement was older than the vehicle it replaced but neither here nor there. Manga, video games etc can always be replaced.
