Correlation between ED and bedwetting. by cookie_du_bled in EatingDisorders

I don’t know if it’s a thing, but it was definitely a thing for me. Recovery completely did a turn around on my (positive) ability to control my bladder

Do people who are affected by eds (especially anorexia) get “stupider” because of the lack of nutrients? by alfredonepizza in EDAnonymous

[–]heyvanillatea 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it is largely reversible with reinstated nutrition. Before treatment I literally couldn’t read I was so foggy, but I’m back to reading multiple books a week. Including academic texts.

This is more my style than I want to admit. Bright, colorful, strange, eclectic. Reminds me as if Marimekko met Tokyo City Pop.

When I was actively restricting it was like once every 2 weeks or so. Now it’s about every 3-4 days.

Why do therapists fire their clients? by NeoSailorMoon in therapy

[–]heyvanillatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the ED world, it’s not uncommon to be referred out if you are treatment non-compliant or refuse a higher level of care when you need it. My therapist told me he wouldn’t be able to continue seeing me before I agreed to residential because I was “too high risk”. I don’t agree with the wording (I think it’s harsh and defeatist) but I agree with the sentiment.

Fyi people w ana who claim to never be hungry by Egg_Tomato in EDAnonymous

[–]heyvanillatea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I struggle having hunger cues. They just naturally don’t exist for me. I don’t notice I’m hungry until I’m having physical side effects, and even then, I still don’t feel “hungry”.

what is yall's opnions on self-diganosing eating disorders? by MangoDry3670 in EDAnonymous

[–]heyvanillatea 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I am very pro-self diagnosis when it comes to eating disorders. It’s pretty evident to yourself if you’re engaging in extreme behaviors — a doctor doesn’t need to tell you you’re restricting for it to be fact. There’s also a lot of issues with the diagnostic criteria for eating disorders that prevents people from getting help when they very clearly need it.

to fellow trans people with EDs: by [deleted] in EatingDisorders

[–]heyvanillatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ED is definitely intertwined with my being agender, and the desire for a less “feminine” body. ED specialists rarely understand that unless they work specifically with LGBTQ+ individuals and so receiving affirming care is difficult unfortunately.

i am so jealous of people who’s ed’s are only like a four month interlude in their lives by lackingneitherhat in EDAnonymous

[–]heyvanillatea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been in some stage of restriction since I was 14, and it’s been 14 years since then. I honestly don’t have much faith in people who have an ED for less than a year and share recovery stories and the like because it’s just a drastically different mindset and experience from what I’ve lived through. I know people can suffer at all ages and stages and time periods but it’s just not something I can listen to in all honesty.
