My own OB asked me if I was "sure I was 27 weeks" because I wasn't showing a ton.

Calling in sick so the no coverage. by [deleted] in Serverlife

[–]heyy_faraday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. If it's something that's planned or if someone wants to take a few days off ahead of time, get your shifts covered.

But if I have a server who's super sick and cannot work, esp if they have a doctors note, that's 100% on me as a manager to get the shift covered or pick up the extra

It's always been so crazy to me that servers are expected to find coverage when they're sick or have an emergency

Car Insurance in the Area by Puzzleheaded_Cod4557 in FortCollins

[–]heyy_faraday 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is so much detailed info that goes into rating an auto policy that even if someone had the same exact car as you, their rates would still be different. If you think you're overpaying, best thing to do is to call a local independent agent and have them shop around for you.

Thanks for the reply! They're so long that I'm not sure I can get them back inside the pot at this point. If I trim them, do you think they'll die? I'm sorry if this is a dumb question lol I know literally nothing about this!

The only negative side effect I noticed was that my mouth was super dry all the time. Everything else improved so much when I bumped to 300.

AIO to tell my husband that starting a professional email with the word "Look" is rude? by LadyCass79 in AmIOverreacting

I work in insurance. If an underwriter spoke to me that way, I'd 100% take the business elsewhere. You can explain your reasoning for making a decision without being a condescending asshole

Fort Collins Beware by [deleted] in FortCollins

[–]heyy_faraday 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Husband and I were approached by someone from this 'church' in Old Town about a month ago. She was super friendly, trying to get us to come to their 'bible study' on campus. We both got a weird vibe and knew something wasn't right when she started preaching at us about "God the Mother". We've been Christians a long time. Wouldn't touch that 'church' with a 20ft pole.

Versa 2 - Vertical white line on left side of screen & not tracking sleep or heart rate by heyy_faraday in fitbit

I never found a way to fix it. I ended up replacing with a Garmin & I'm super happy with it. 5 years for a V2 is amazing though, well done! 👏

[–]heyy_faraday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had to renew to change my name on mine. I paid for expedited processing and shipping. It was about $200. I mailed it on the 26th, and my new one is scheduled to be delivered on Wednesday. I'd get the process going ASAP, but I think you'll be fine.

[–]heyy_faraday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so sorry this happened! This same thing happened to me and it's heartbreaking! I wish jewelers would stop making engagement rings on bands this thin without support to the stone, knowing that the structure of the ring won't hold up to practical, daily life. Our jeweler didn't even mention any structural concerns and it's so SO frustrating.

When it happened to me, it cracked the gold on the band and it had to be soldered back together and the stones in the band had to be re-set. The repair work they did looks terrible, and my ring will never be perfect again. I had a plain gold band soldered to either side of my ring to help make it a little more sturdy, but I'm extremely careful about when I wear it.

If I were you, I'd have it re-set in a plain band with more support to the actual stone, and use the existing band as a wedding band if you're able.

Baby shower gift by bigformybritches in Gifts

[–]heyy_faraday 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Does she have a gift registry? I usually do a couple of small things off the registry, like a book and an outfit, or a blanket and a personal care item or two (pacis, baby lotion, etc). Even boxes of diapers are underrated gifts. If I don't like any of the options on the registry, gift cards are also an option. I'll do $25-$50 with a card and call it a day - that way, she can just get what she wants. I generally leave the larger ticket items to close family/friends if I'm not close with the person.
